Let’s get ready to rumble! The luchador-inspired Pokemon Hawlucha is finally making the long journey from Kalos to Pokemon GO. Here’s how to get Hawlucha in Pokemon GO!

How to Get Hawlucha in Pokemon GO

The Latin American Pokemon GO Twitter Account has announced that Hawlucha will be arriving in Pokemon GO on March 1, 2023!

Translated, the tweet says:

In this corner…

This Pokémon always strikes a pose just before taking the coup de grace

Meet Hawlucha in #PokemonGO and experience his adventure in Mexico starting March 1!”

This is great news for fans of the Fighting- and Flying-Type Pokemon. But there is a catch. As the Tweet implies, Hawlucha will only be available in Mexico, and possibly other Latin American countries, joining 50 other region locked Pokemon.

Hawlucha can be found as a Wild Encounter in its dedicated region. Trainers who hope to find this Wrestling bird without booking a flight to Mexico will probably have to wait for a global event, similar to the now passed Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn, during which region-locked Pokemon like Tropius and Relicanth were available.

And as for whether or not you can catch Hawlucha in its Shiny form (which turns it a distinctive crimson and black), the answer is no. Currently, Hawlucha and its Shiny form have not yet been released.

When you do manage to catch Hawlucha, expect the following moves:

Fast Moves:

  • Low Kick
  • Poison Jab

Charge Moves:

  • Flying Press
  • X-Scissor
  • Power-Up Punch
  • Aerial Ace

Yes, despite Hawlucha being a Flying-Type, it has access to very few Flying-Type attacks. It’s yet to be seen whether or not Hawlucha will be viable in Raids, Gym Battles, or in PvP. It has a wide range of weaknesses, including to Psychic and Fairy, both popular Pokemon Types.
