Everyone starts with copper.

Finding copper ores tends to get omitted in the early part of the playthrough in Moonlight Peaks. There are just so many things to explore, build, and maintain that you don’t realize you could get this resource in the first place.

However, there will come a time when you need to get these copper ores or copper bars and have no clue where to find them. Here’s a short guide showing you where to get them and also the minerals near them.

Copper ores are mined from copper-infused stones inside the Cave of Echoes in Misty Shores. However, the story needs to progress until the feud between Orlock and Fiona ends to gain access to Misty Shores. Since the path to the Misty Shores (southwest of Moonlight Peaks) is blocked by a spell cast by Fiona, you cannot enter unless you finish the questline.

The quest is called “A Bridge Too Far” where you must finish the following objectives:

  • Wait for Orlock to apologize
  • Meet Mina at Fiona’s House in Moonlit Pines
  • Ask Noel for help
  • Ask Luna for help
  • Ask Sabrina for help
  • Go to the Cursed Bridge

These are all easily doable, but you do have to wait for Orlock to apologize and let the quest progress itself, so it’ll take a minimum of 2 days to complete at the very least.

Once you unlock Misty Shores, you’ll have access to the Ambrosia Estate and also the Cave of Echoes.

The Cave of Echoes location is easily seen on the southwest corner of Misty Shores if you open the map, as seen in the image above.

Once you enter the Cave of Echoes, there are one or two paths to take, but you should see stones everywhere. If you move further east or west, you’ll start to find stones with copper inside of them. Smash the little ones with your pickaxe. The big stones will require better tools, which will actually use some of the copper ore you mine to upgrade.

Make sure to have enough energy and enough inventory space before going to the Cave of Echoes. After getting a decent number of copper ores or running out of stamina, go to your furnace and start making copper bars with copper ores and charcoal. If you don’t have charcoal, the recipe is just regular wood, and they are made in the furnace as well.

It is worth noting that copper ores do respawn in the Cave of Echoes. If you are thinking of trying to make money or coins by farming these minerals, you should always smelt them into bars first to maximize their value. However, it isn’t a good way to make money since it does take a lot of your energy and time for such little profit (around 30 coins per Copper Bar).
