Where to Find Clay in Palia

You can find clay in brown-orange clay nodes located near water sources. In particular, you can find these rocks along the southern coast of Kilima Village, along Remembrance Beach and Gillyfin Cove.

Below are map screenshots of these two locations.

Later on, you can also encounter clay in areas like Bahari Bay’s coastlines.

Unlike stone and copper nodes, clay rocks are completely brown, with very small grey rocks dotted along their surface. You’ll usually find several clay deposits dotted along the grass and sand in the spots I showed above. However, if other players are around, you may have to wait for more to respawn or work alongside them to gather this resour

Occasionally, you can also find clay in old vases while tilling land at your home plot. However, this is not a guaranteed way to obtain clay, and more often than not, you’ll get other resources like plant fiber and flint.

If you’re having trouble with either of these options, you can also use Palia’s item request system by pressing O on your keyboard and asking for clay. The request will stay up for an hour, allowing other players to donate clay to you. If they fulfil it, you’ll find the items in this same menu to claim.

What Is Clay Used for in Palia?

Clay is a helpful resource used to create items like smoke bombs for bug-catching. You’ll especially need it for the standard smoke bomb, as a batch of 20 requires one clay and one Sundrop Lily. It is also the main resource for creating ceramic bricks in your furnace. You’ll unlock the smelter after reaching mining level two and purchasing the crafting recipe from Hodari.

As you progress into the game, you’ll unlock more recipes in your crafting table and furnaces requiring clay. Be sure to mine plenty throughout your travels to have some on hand! If you ever have excess, you can also sell it in your shipping bin to make some pocket change.

Palia will be available to play on Nintendo Switch and PC. To learn more about the game, check out whether Palia will release on consoles, or click the tag below to explore our growing article list!
