How to Get and Farm Leather in Palworld

Time to get your ride done

There are plenty of resources that you can’t get in your base in Palworld, and you’ll have to hunt them down with your own hands instead. This is the case with Leather, one of the many ingredients used for some important items in the game that make your life easier.

Where to Get Leather in Palworld

Leather is a common drop from beast-like Pals. Whenever you see a feral-looking creature like Foxparks, Direhowl or Fuddler, they may drop a few pieces of leather when defeated or captured. There’s currently no known way of farming more Leather automatically in your base with structures, so your only option is to chase those creatures down.

Fortunately, many Leather-dropping Pals are found easily in the early game. Some easy locations for these are around the Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance, where you can meet many Foxparks, Melpacas and sometimes even Eikthyrdeer, which all may drop Leather upon defeat.

You can check each Pal’s drop list and its location by opening the menu, heading to the Paldeck tab and looking for that specific Pal. Press 3 on Keyboard (or RT on controllers) to see its Habitat. Use this to know where you should head to catch/beat more Pals later.

Early on, your best bet for farming leather in Palworld is by capturing or defeating Foxparks. They tend to be plentiful around the starting area, and they’ll usually drop a piece of leather or two after they’re dealt with. However, some of the larger Pals around the area like Eikthyrdeer seem to drop a higher quantity of leather more often.

If you have some extra cash on you, you can also buy leather from the Wandering Merchant in the Small Settlement located across the water west of the starting area. Each piece of leather will cost around 150 gold, which you can easily collect by selling unwanted resources to the merchant and opening various chests scattered around the area.

What is Leather Used For in Palworld?

Leather in Palworld is used to make items such as Saddles for riding certain Pals like Eikthyrdeer or Rushoar, as well as being required for many other components in later recipes you’ll unlock throughout the game. Some of the earliest uses of Leather is to craft better armor for more defense, and to craft a harness that’ll let you hold and use a Foxparks like a flamethrower or a saddle to ride Rushroar, which both unlock at level six.

To get the most use out of Leather, you’ll want to make sure you unlock and craft a Pal Gear Workbench once you reach level 6. This will let you craft the items that make use of a Pal’s partner skill, like the aforementioned saddles and Foxparks harness.

Good luck in your leather-gathering adventure in Palworld!
