To get a Whispering Key, you must head to a town with a Curiosity Vendor. The first town you will encounter one of these in is Kyovashad, where you will find Lisbeth, the Purveyor of Curiosities. In the bottom-right corner of the city, you will find the vendor’s wares, including the Whispering Key for 20 Murmuring Obols. This is the main way to get these keys, and you can buy multiple if you have enough Obols!

You can find Curiosity Vendors in any major settlement in Diablo 4, ranging from Cerrigar in Scosglen to Zarbinzet in Hawezar. In other words, don’t worry about returning to Kyovashad whenever you want a Whispering Key.

After getting your hands on a Whispering Key, you can use it on a Silent Chest to gain random items. While you usually get an assortment of common gear, you can occasionally get rare equipment, making it worthwhile to open a few chests here and there.

Admittedly, most of the drops I’ve obtained through silent chests have been underwhelming, mainly consisting of some gold and a mix of common and uncommon gear. Despite this, if you have keys to spare, it’s worth trying your luck to see what happens!

Obtaining Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4

As you fight enemies, participate in World Events and open chests, you will naturally gain Murmuring Obols over time that you can spend at the Curiosity Vendor. You need 20 Obols for Whispering Keys, but you can also purchase random weapons and armor and attempt to upgrade your equipment setup.

You can only hold a limited number of Obols at a time, so be sure to spend some once you reach your limit! You can also hold multiple Whispering Keys, so if you run out of carrying capacity, you can purchase several keys and keep them in your inventory to use later.
