Although the world in Monster Hunter Stories 2 is brimming with wild and beautiful beasts, Palamutes are quite rare. The road to getting a Palamute isn’t as short and sweet as you might think. Here, we will go over everything you need to know to get your hands on one of these legendary companions.
How to Get Palamute Tickets in Monster Hunter Stories 2
Palamute eggs can only be found during Co-Op Palamute Expeditions. Co-Op Expeditions are unlocked when you reach Lamure, the second-last town in the game. Co-Op Palamute Expeditions, however, aren’t unlocked until you’ve completed the Ascending the Tower and/or It’s the Pits quests.
Once you have reached that point in the story, you are almost ready to embark on a Palamute Expedition. All you need is a ticket. You can get your hands on these in one of two ways. Firstly, you can complete the Throw Me a Bone Subquest on the quest board.
The second, more reliable method, is to purchase a Palamute Ticket at Melynx Inc. There are three types of Palamute Expedition tickets you can buy:
- Palamute Ticket (N) – 8 Bottlecaps
- Palamute Ticket (R) – 50 Bottlecaps
- Palamute Ticket (SR) – Post-game only
Use your ticket to set off on an (Explore) Palamute Den quest in the Co-Op section of the Quest Board and explore the lobby until you match with someone online. If you’ve been waiting a while for a match, open the menu and press Start Now to be matched with a bot.
Where to Find Palamute Eggs in Monster Hunter Stories 2
The Expedition arena works similarly to the Monster Dens you find in the wild in Monster Hunter Stories 2. There are a few more monsters and nests present, so visit each one before you eventually make it to the blue quest marker and defeat the monster that awaits you there.
Once you’ve defeated the monster, rifle through the eggs until you find one with a spiral-like pattern on it. With your Palamute egg in tow, scamper back to a Stable to hatch your brand-new Palamute puppy.
There are a few different types of Palamute you can collect:
- Normal Palamute: Dark Blue
- Thunder Palamute: Light Green
- Water Palamute: Meidum Blue
- Ice Palamute: Light Blue
- Fire Palamute: Orange
- Dragon Palamute: Red
The color of the egg you find indicates what type of Palamute you will hatch!
