How to Get a Cat in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life

The cat's out of the bag.

Everyone knows that no farm is complete without a cat. They have an important job to do, and they do that job incredibly well. Unless you own the same cat that I did as a child, which was strangely scared of mice. So, it makes sense that you would be able to have a cat join you on your farming adventure. Obtaining a cat is not a clearly illustrated process, however, so keep reading to discover how to get a cat in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.

How to Own a Cat in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life

Whilst obtaining the cat isn’t necessary to beat the game, nor does owning the cat provide you with a product to sell, owning the cat is important if you are aiming to complete the Encyclopedia; a task that is no easy feat. Fortunately, obtaining the cat is a simple process if you know what to do. Romana, the elderly woman who lives in The Villa, will be shocked to find that a stray cat has entered her mansion. Romana will come to the farm to see if you want to adopt the cat Year 2.

Here are the steps for making sure that Romana offers you the cat.

  • Finish Year 1 and enter Year 2.
  • Play until you get to Autumn.
  • Make sure that you enter your house at 12:00 PM

If you follow these steps correctly, you will hear a knock at the door and Romana will appear with the cat following behind her. Fear not if you are unsuccessful on the first day of the month. It took me until Autumn 3 when she appeared. Working the farm is busy, and days are short, so it is very easy to lose track of time and not get back to your house at noon to trigger the cutscene. Be mindful of that when Year 2 Autumn rolls around but if not, there’s always next year.

When you’re waiting for Romana to appear, whether it is for a few hours on an Autumn morning, or you need to pass the seasons, there’s always so much to do on your farm. If you’re short on time, you could fish for both money and to finish the Encyclopedia page. Or, you could tend to your fields and grow one of the many varieties of hybrid crops.
