1) Update Your Graphics Drivers

You should have seen this one coming. Outdated graphics drivers are one of the most common issues for bad performance in PC games, and GPU manufacturers regularly release updated versions alongside big game releases. Check your GPU’s software or website the make sure you’re up to date.

2) Update Windows

It’s a little out there, but not keeping Windows and its applications updated could lead to problems in some games, specifically when there are updates for DirectX or .NET Frameworks available. Just to be safe, you should head over to your Windows Update screen and check for updates.

3) Verify Integrity of Game Files

It’s not uncommon for game files to go missing or become corrupt and, luckily, each gaming platform has ways of verifying and repairing all files in the case of an error.

  • For Steam Users:
    • Right-click on Wild Hearts in your Steam Library, then select Properties
    • Click the Local Files tab, then click Verify Integrity of local files
  • For EA Origin Users:
    • Go to My Collection and find Wild Hearts
    • Click the three dots under “Installed” and select Repair
  • For Epic Games Users:
    • Go to your library and find Wild Hearts
    • Click the three dots, then click Manage, and then select Verify Files

4) Run Wild Hearts as Administrator

Some programs just run more reliably when launched as administrator, and Wild Hearts may benefit from it as well.

  • Find the Wild Hearts game directory
  • Right-click the Wild Hearts application and click Properties
  • Click the Compatibility tab, then check the “Run this program as an administrator” box

5) Disable Fullscreen Optimizations

While you’re in the compatibility tab of the Wild Hearts executable file, try disabling fullscreen optimizations. Sometimes, this can actually help when launching a game.

  • Find the Wild Hearts game directory
  • Right-click the Wild Hearts application and click Properties
  • Click the Compatibility tab, then check the “Disable fullscreen optimizations” box
