How to Fix Warhammer 40K: Darktide Crashing Issues

The will of heretics isn't the only thing crashing today.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide is finally available for players who pre-ordered the game before launch. In the two weeks leading up to the game’s release on November 30, players can enjoy some slowly increasing content and help iron out issues to make the game as smooth as possible. While these issues are to be expected, crashing errors can be rather frustrating. Here’s how to fix crashing issues with Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Before we give some options, it’s worth noting that the pre-order beta will naturally be very buggy. If you’re having a handful of crashes, chances are bugs that will be fixed before the official launch are causing it. That’s not to say they’re 100% the game’s fault, but it’s very likely. With that out of the way, onto some potential fixes.

The first thing you’ll want to do is ensure that your PC is at the minimum (or even recommended) requirements to run Darktide. Having anything lower isn’t a sure sign of issues, but it can lead to a lack of guaranteed stability. If you’re not up to snuff, you may need to play something else, make more compromises in the settings, or upgrade your hardware to something stronger. If that’s not the case though, messing around with the settings can play a part. Anything from having DLSS or FidelityFX enabled, to certain graphical settings could be the cause of crashes.

Some other things worth trying are verifying the integrity of your game’s files on Steam. This can be done by right-clicking on the game in your library, clicking Properties, navigating to local files, then verifying integrity. Corruption (no, not the Darktide kind) could lead to frequent crashes at certain points. Unfortunately for future Xbox users, the only way to do this is to reinstall the game entirely.

If none of this works, submitting a crash report is the best thing you can do. Sure, that won’t fix the problem immediately, but it will notify Fatshark so they can potentially fix it in a series of upcoming updates. This can be done over on the forums, or on the popup that appears when the game crashes on PC.
