Metal Slug Attack Reloaded was announced during the recent Nintendo Direct and shadow-dropped on PC and consoles. This re-release runs pretty well on PC for the most part, and despite the 30 FPS lock, there is a lot of sprite work to enjoy. Despite the low requirements, there are a few reported issues, and if you’re running into the Metal Slug Attack Reloaded Fatal Error with a crash, here is how you can fix that.

Fixing the Metal Slug Attack Reloaded Fatal Error

To fix the Fatal Error in Metal Slug Attack Reloaded, you need to use a DirectX 12 launch command in Steam.

  • Make sure Metal Slug Attack Reloaded isn’t running
  • Open Steam, and navigate to your library
  • Here, right-click on Metal Slug Attack Reloaded and select Properties
  • In the General tab, type the following under LAUNCH OPTIONS
-dx12

Now, launch Metal Slug Attack Reloaded again, and it should run without any crashes.

If that doesn’t work, try the following.

Verify Game Files

It’s possible that the game is crashing because of broken or missing game files. This is fairly common, and thankfully, Steam lets you scan through the installed files, and redownload anything corrupted.

  • Open Steam, and navigate to your library
  • Here, right-click on Metal Slug Attack Reloaded and select Properties
  • In the Installed Files tab, click on Verify integrity of game file

For most users, the steps above should be more than enough to get the game working again. If you’re still running into the same Fatal Error, we recommend that you reinstall the title.

Originally a mobile release, Metal Slug Attack Reloaded is more proof that SNK is still very interested in the franchise, and we hope they continue to develop more titles. Metal Slug Tactics is due this year, and we hope all these are leading up to a new mainline release.
