How To Fix the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Ultrawide Issue on PC

Almost perfect!

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the best titles of the year and an excellent PC port from MachineGames developed on id Tech 7. The game supports ultrawide and super ultrawide monitors during gameplay and cutscenes. While this is great, the implementation has a slight issue regarding the FOV, particularly during cutscenes, which can look a bit zoomed in. Thankfully, this is resolved by a patch from modder Lyall who has yet again delivered a fast fix for a modern PC release.

Fixing the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Ultrawide Cutscene Issue

As mentioned, this patch addresses the zoomed-in FOV during cutscenes in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle when played on an ultrawide aspect ratio.

Installing it is fairly simple, and here is how it works:

  • Head over to the following GitHub page, and select GreatCircleFix_v0.0.2.zip under Assets
  • After the file is downloaded, extract it where Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is installed
    • Xbox App version: XboxGames\Indiana Jones and the Great Circle\Content
    • Steam version: steamapps\common\The Great Circle

That’s all you need to do, and the next time you launch Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the FOV during cutscenes will be adjusted. Here is a screenshot provided by Lyall with the correct FOV in cutscenes that’s consistent with regular resolutions:

In addition to the ultrawide fix, the patch also has a few more features:

  • Unrestrict available console commands.
  • Allow changing read-only console commands.
  • Skip intro videos.

This means that when you adjust the LOD in-game, the value won’t reset anymore like it does when using developer commands as usual.

All credits go to Lyall for creating and testing the tool. You can learn more about their work at their Ko-fi and Patreon. To disable the patch, simply remove the extracted files.

We’re glad to see the support for these monitors, even with the small tweak required for the perfect experience. With how extensive the day one patch was, it’s very possible that the developers will add this tweak in an upcoming update too.

To further improve the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle experience, players can skip the intro videos, and access their local progress.
