How to Fix Suit Protection Depleted in Starfield

A solid shield can save you.

While your gear typically has protective properties to prevent this, there are limits to what your equipment can handle. What Does Suit Protection Depleted Mean in Starfield?

In Starfield, Suit Protection Depleted is a warning indicating your spacesuit will no longer protect you from harsh weather conditions. As a result, you become more susceptible to environmental afflictions and damage from enemies. You can solve this issue by going inside your spaceship or a building and regenerating your suit’s protection.

Typically, if you have suit protection, your character will be less likely to pick up afflictions such as burns, frostbite, and poison. Many planets have extreme weather that will gradually drain your protection, so don’t stay outside too long. You can also pick up afflictions if you accidentally step into a gas vent, fire, or other hazards in the world.

All Suit Protection Types in Starfield

Every spacesuit also has seven protective properties that determine how effectively it’ll shield you against certain elements:

  • Physical
  • Energy
  • Electromagnetic
  • Thermal
  • Airborne
  • Corrosive
  • Radiation

The values of these stats determine how much damage you’ll take from sources like enemy gunshots, planet temperature, and radiation damage, among other sources. You can see your armor’s values by entering your inventory, hovering over your spacesuit, and looking at the seven values below its name.

In the example above, while I have decent protection against airborne and corrosive damage sources, I’m slightly more vulnerable to radiation and temperature. In the future, I may consider finding a second spacesuit that focuses on these types if necessary.
