How to Find the Red-Cloaked Horror in Diablo 4

Little red Goatman

One beast rules the revelry in the Midwinter Blight event for Diablo 4, and that’s the Red-Cloaked Horror boss. You won’t be able to find this beast in any normal dungeon, so I have a guide outlining how you can locate the Blightfiend boss in the Peaks.

Where to Find the Red-Cloaked Horror in Diablo 4

You can find the Red-Cloaked Horror at the end of Blighted Revelry World Events in the Fractured Peaks. I found it to the east of Kyovashad in the Frigid Expanse. These events are marked as orange circles like any other World Events in Diablo 4, but there are some key differences. Blighted Revely events have a ring of fire on the outside and a large bonfire in the center with some Blightfiends.

To get the Red-Cloaked Horror to appear, you need to get a Mastery bonus from the Blighted Revelry. You have a little over 90 seconds to survive the celebration at the bonfire and melt the Frigid Husks that the fiends set up. If you can get that done before the timer runs out, then you have the Mastery bonus done, and the Red-Cloaked Horror will appear.

In some cases, the boss could appear in a different area of Fractured Peaks after the event ends. However, the Red-Cloaked Horror will typically just spawn as the final boss at the Blighted Revelry, so you don’t need to look too far. The only challenge is finding another event.

How to Beat the Red-Cloaked Horror in Diablo 4

When fighting the Red-Cloaked Horror, you need to watch out for and dodge its large AoE attacks. These attacks contain some deadly ice magic that can quickly slow down your character and even freeze them. With that in mind, it’s a good idea to bring some Elixir of Cold Resistance with you.

Here are the Red-Cloaked Horror’s three main attacks you’ll want to watch out for and how to handle them:

  • Axe Slam: the Red-Cloaked Horror will jump into the air and slam its axe down, creating a wave of ice that will slow down your character. You’ll want to dodge to the side and position yourself either by the Horror’s side or behind it to avoid the ice.
  • Ice Orbs: balls of ice will fly outward from the Red-Cloaked Horror, bursting forward at various angles and slowing down your character if they hit. You’ll want to do your best to remain in between the gaps of the ice orbs, best done by creating some distance between you and the boss.
  • Ice Pillars: the Red-Cloaked Horror will summon pillars of ice around the arena that will explode after some time and potentially freeze your character. Prioritize destroying the ice pillars when they appear. If you can’t destroy them all, try to get some distance to remove yourself from the blast-zone radius of the remaining pillars.

The Red-Cloaked Horror is honestly not too difficult of a fight. It should go down pretty quickly as long as you’re continuously dealing damage and destroying any ice pillars that pop up. Feel free to use your health potions liberally as the Horror will drop more when its HP drops.

How to Get the Red-Cloaked Trophy in Diablo 4

The Red-Cloaked Trophy is an item that drops as a reward after defeating the Red-Cloaked Horror boss in the Midwinter Blight event. Only one will spawn at a time, and you can turn the trophy in at the Midwinter Proof Exchange for some more proofs and tribute points. These are the best ways to earn more points if you can find more Blighted Revelry events.

While you’re at it, start stacking up on Blighted Fragments for the holiday event.
