How to Find and Evolve Porygon in The Indigo Disk

The Terarium is manmade, so it only makes sense that our favorite digital casino bird has made its way to The Indigo Disk! But Porygon can be quite elusive unless you know where to look. Here’s how to find Porygon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk.

There are two areas in The Indigo Disk you can find Porygon in:

  • The icy Polar Biome.
  • Within the Chargestone Caverns.

The Chargestone Caverns offers a wild Terastalized Porygon, making it the most consistent way to find the digital bird. To find the Porygon in Chargestone Cavern, enter the cave using one of the myriad entrances along the central western border. You can find one Cavern entrance beside the Polar Biome classroom.

Once you’re inside the Chargestone Caverns, head to the very top of the cavern. There, you’ll find the Terrastalized Porygon. This is also a great place to consistently complete the “Take a photograph of a flying Pokemon” challenge for BP. Porygon counts, even though it’s only levitating!

Alternatively, there are wild Porygons scattered outside Polar Biome. They’ve no set spawn point, but it seems they’re most commonly seen outside the Chargestone Cavern entrances, near the Polar Outdoor Classroom.

Once you have Porygon in your entourage, you can evolve it all the way up to Porygon-Z. However, for each stage, you’ll need to trade it. Here’s what to expect if you want to evolve your newfound Porygon.

How to Evolve Porygon in The Indigo Disk

So, evolving Porygon to its final form in The Indigo Disk requires two things—500 BP and someone you trust.

To evolve Porygon into Porygon 2, you will need to trade it while its holding the Upgrade item, which can be purchased from the School store for 250 BP. The person receiving Porygon will see it evolve into Porygon 2. You can then have the person you traded it to trade it back if you hadn’t each swapped Porygons holding an Upgrade at the same time.

To evolve Porygon 2 into Porygon-Z, you’ll need to trade Porygon 2 while it’s holding the Dubious Disc item, which can be purchased from the School Store for 250 BP. The person receiving Porygon 2 will see it evolve into Porygon-Z in the same way your first Porygon evolved.

It’s quite risky! But if you have a friend or use one of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Discord servers, you can likely find a good trade partner.

Trade Codes to Evolve Porygon in The Indigo Disk

If you’re one of the many lonely people who are absolutely friendless and can’t find a decent trade partner to touch Porygons with, you can still evolve Porygon in The Indigo Disk by using specific codes while trading with strangers online.

Here’s how to trade Pokemon using trade codes:

  • Select the Poke Portal from the X Menu.
  • Select Link Trade.
  • Select Set Link Code and enter the specific trade code for the Pokemon you need.
  • Select Begin Searching.

Here are the codes you’ll need to enter to evolve Porygon and Porygon 2:

Trade CodePokemon You HavePokemon You Want
0137-0137Porygon (holding Upgrade)Porygon 2
0233-0233Porygon 2 (holding Dubious Disk)Porygon Z

By using the above codes, you can trade a Porygon holding an Upgrade and expect to receive the same in return. Just make sure you’re offering up the same thing and you both have the appropriate items attached. Most trainers respect the agreed-upon community rules when trading Pokemon that require specific held items, but if things go awry, you can always try again.

If all goes right, you should have a newly evolved Porygon to take home with you. And if you want to see more trade codes for Pokemon exclusive to the Indigo Disk, we have a guide on that!
