If you’ve got some Pokemon that you’re not quite sure what to do within terms of evolution, you’re not alone. Here’s our guide on how to evolve Riolu in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Step By Step Instructions

One good thing to note is that Riolu isn’t a version exclusive, so regardless of whether you’ve got Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, you’ll be able to nab this critter. Before we get into the nuts and bolts of actually evolving one, let’s help the Trainers out there who don’t have one yet.

To get a Riolu, take yourself over to Giant’s Cap in the Wild Area during a Snowstorm. This is the only time that you’re going to find one of these babies, so make sure that the right weather condition is being met before you start camping out over there.

Once you’ve got your mitts on a Riolu, evolving it into a Lucario isn’t actually that hard. We’re going to break it down for you into two simple steps:

  1. It’s got to be the daytime
  2. Riolu needs to have maxed out its happiness

If you’re not sure how to make your Riolu that happiest around, the answer is actually pretty simple. We would generally recommend making sure that it spends a lot of time with you camping, eating curry and other treats, and also not getting KO’d in battle – basically what Snom needs to evolve too.

Play with it at every opportunity, even if you think having it play Fetch is a little bit mind-numbing, and you’ll be at max happiness with this thing in no time. If you follow all those instructions above about how to evolve Riolu in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you’ll end up with your very own Lucario! Easy as, mate.
