Oxenfree II: Lost Signals features a variety of trophies that can be obtained for witnessing specific endings, accomplishing dialogue feats, and/or completing miscellaneous tasks. Arguably the most bizarre trophy in the game, “Merry Scary Christmas,” tasks players with creating the scariest “One Word Story,” which can be easily missed. Here is a step-by-step walkthrough to earn Merry Scary Christmas in Oxenfree II: Lost Signals.
Merry Scary Christmas Explained in Oxenfree II: Lost Signals
When Riley and Jacob time travel while exploring the caves around Waterhead Bluffs, the Merry Scary Christmas trophy can be obtained. Jacob will ask Riley to play a game called “One Word Story” where two people tell a story one word at a time, alternating back and forth between each other.
When Jacob says “How about that,” you must select “Sure” in order to go for the Merry Scary Christmas trophy.
The game starts when Jacob says “Once.” Riley has the option to choose between “Upon,” “Satan” and “Santa.” Make sure to select Santa.
Next, Jacob will say “Ate.” Riley has the dialogue choices of “His…” “Fourteen,” or “Jacob.” Choose Fourteen.
Lastly, Jacob will say “Children,” giving Riley the options of “The End,” “Loudly” or “Okay… I’ve Had Enough.” In order to finish the story and obtain the trophy, you’ll want to go for Loudly.
Once you have completed the story, “Once, Santa ate fourteen children loudly. The End,” the silver PlayStation trophy will pop, signifying that you have told the scariest “One Word Story” (even though it is actually eight words).
