How to Disassemble Crafted Items in Palworld

Can you pick things up and put them down?

Resources are rather abundant in Palworld, but knowing how to harvest old builds for materials is rather important. Let’s find out how to tear down old items and repurpose them into something new.

To start disassembling objects and claiming their resources, you’ll need to first bring up the Build Menu. This is done by pressing D-Pad Up on the Controller or B on the Keyboard. Once you have accessed the Build Menu, you can click R3 on your Controller or C on your Keyboard to access the Disassembly menu. Approach the object that you want to either move or get rid of, and get to work destroying it.

When you dismantle items in Palworld, you’ll get a full refund of all the resources that you put into the item, so there’s no need to worry about a penalty or losing anything when you dismantle. In fact, dismantling items is currently the best (and only) way to move things around or relocate to ensure that you can set up a proper base.

Since you cannot pick up and move objects, dismantling is going to be the easiest way to start relocating your objects to a new area. Since Palworld is in Early Access, there is a chance that the option to pick up objects and move them to a new spot will be added in the future, but for now, we’ll just need to use our more destructive tendencies and get to work this way. It’s unfortunate watching something you’ve put hard work and effort into be destroyed in a matter of moments, but we have to do what we have to do to survive.

Check out our guide on How to Move and Destroy Structures in Palworld, which will provide you with instructions on how to move and destroy structures in the game.

How to Cancel While Building

If you start to build something in Palworld and decide that you no longer want the item or you want it in a different location, you can quickly cancel the build by holding C on your keyboard or B on the controller. This will stop the building process and place all the items’ resources into your character’s inventory. You can then reuse the resources to build the item in a different location or forgo building the item altogether.

Tip:

If you’re trying to move resources from one base to another to build a specific item, you can set up that specific item to be built at your first base, then quickly cancel or destroy the item to have all its resources inserted into your inventory. This is a quick way to gather the exact amount of resources you need to build the item elsewhere without having to rummage through your chests or boxes.

Can You Disassemble Weapons in Palworld?

No, you cannot disassemble an already-made weapon and get the resources back in Palworld. Once you craft a weapon, the resources you used to make it are gone for good. This is unlike structures, which you can disassemble to get your resources back.

However, you can “delete” a weapon or tool that you want to get rid of. If you’ve broken a Pickaxe and don’t want to repair it, open you inventory, click on the item, and drag it to the “Discard” box with the picture of the trash barrel. You’ll see a prompt that asks if you’re sure you want to get rid of the item. Click “Confirm” and then it’ll disappear from your inventory.
