How to Destroy Fuel Reserves in Helldivers 2

I did that!

As the war wages on with the Automatons, we’ve been tasked not only with dispatching the robot menaces themselves but also their ammunition and fuel reserves. Here’s how to increase the price of gas on Mavelon Creek.

Using Hellbombs to Destroy Fuel Reserves in Helldivers 2

Fuel reserves are the large, cylindrical towers jutting out of the landscape of Automaton bases. When you approach them, you’ll typically be tasked with destroying two of them. Don’t waste your Stratagems: check your menu for the Hellbomb Strategem, which will be automatically equipped during these specific missions. You can only use it near the reserves, so step up to the plate and call down the bomb somewhere between them.

Once the bomb has been placed, it’s time to arm it. Input the code, and tell your team to scram: the explosion radius is larger than you would expect it to be. If you place it correctly, it’ll take out both reserves in one shot, but if not, you can call in another after a short delay.

The easiest way to tackle this task is to destroy Automaton facilities (the spawners) by chucking grenades into their exhaust ports and cleaning up any stray enemies that are wandering around. You don’t want to get shot in the back while playing DDR with a nuke.

If you’ve been tasked with taking out multiple sets of fuel reserves, don’t worry. You’ll be granted more Hellbombs at each site, so if you see it disappear from your Strategem list, that’s normal, and it will reappear when you need it again.

The war is looking.. a little on the fence, if I’m being honest. It doesn’t help that some folks have taken to farming Defend missions then abandoning the Operation, which actually gives progress to the Automatons in the war effort. Time will tell, but for now, let’s get out there and fight (or die trying).
