Slightly expensive democracy.

Helldivers 2 is finally coming to Xbox Series S|X after more than a year of PC and PS5 exclusivity. This will only recruit more Helldivers for Super Earth’s cause to spread managed democracy. It’s a $40 game across platforms, but there’s a shinier, more expensive edition with some additional content.

So, is the Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition worth getting over the regular game? Here is everything you need to know.

Should You Buy Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition?

While the regular edition of Helldivers 2 costs $40, the Super Citizen Edition costs an additional $20, bumping the price up to $60, which is what AAA games used to cost. As a refresher, the Super Citizen Edition comes with the following additional content:

  • DP-53 Savior of the Free Armour Set.
  • Will of the People Cape.
  • MP-98 Knight Weapon.
  • Super Citizen Status.
  • Stratagem Hero Ship Game.
  • Premium Warbond Token

Let’s all the extra content here to see if it’s worth the extra $20.

DP-53 Savior of the Free Armour Set

First up, we have a medium armor set called “DP-53 Savior of the Free”, which includes the armor itself, a cape, and a unique helmet.

What’s neat about this particular armor set is the passive bonus you receive called “Democracy Protects,” which gives you a 50% chance to survive when taking lethal damage and prevents all damage from bleeding by chest hemorrhages.

You can find this exact passive bonus on the DP-40 Hero of the Federation armor from the Helldivers Mobilize! Warbond.

So, in the end, it really comes down to how much you like the design of the set and if you plan on using it for a long while.

Will of the People Cape

This is another cosmetic item that doesn’t have any gameplay effect. It’s a cape with some neat art and nothing else.

Again, this also comes down to how much you like the artwork displayed on the cape itself.

MP-98 Knight Weapon

The MP-98 Knight is a one-handed submachine gun capable of penetrating light armor. It’s one of the better SMGs, thanks to its excellent fire rate, and is well-suited for an aggressive playstyle.

The recoil is manageable, and it’s fairly accurate for its class, especially being one-handed. It’s a fun weapon that burns through mags quickly but dishes out plenty of damage in the process. I’d say it’s probably the best item in this edition.

Super Citizen Status

You have probably seen other players with the Super Citizen title next to their in-game username. That’s all this is, a fancy way of letting everyone know you bought the expensive edition and showing off. It has no actual utility.

Stratagem Hero Ship Game

If you struggle with Stratagems during missions, this mini-game might help. The Super Citizen Edition adds a game cabinet to your ship called Stratagem Hero, where you can practice inputting different Stratagems on the fly. It’s a fun way to train and build muscle memory.

Premium Warbond Token

Finally, you will receive one Premium Warbond Token, which you can use to buy any Premium Warbond without spending Super Credits on it.

Normally, you’d either have to grind and earn 1000 Super Credits ($10) for a decent amount of time or just purchase those with real money and unlock the Premium Warbond of your choice. However, this eliminates all of that and gives you the Premium Warbond without the work or cash required.

Pre-Order Items for Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition

If you pre-order this edition, which is currently only possible for the Xbox Series S|X edition, you will receive the following additional armor sets:

  • TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand
  • TR-62 Knight
  • TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy

So, Is It Worth It?

Overall, I think the Super Citizen Edition for Helldivers 2 is worth it, and I’ll explain why. First, the MP-98 Knight Weapon is an excellent SMG, especially if you’re a fan of weapons with high fire rates and something you can only get here.

In addition, you are getting a Warbond Token, which can unlock any Warbond for which you’d normally have to spend 1000 Super Credits, which translates to $10. Helldivers 2 has been out for a while, and there are 15 Premium Warbonds to choose from, which means it’s great to have a token that removes the need for any grind.

Since this edition costs $20 extra, you’re paying for a Warbond of your choice and a bunch of cosmetics, plus a unique weapon. If you didn’t have the choice of Warbond, I don’t think this edition would’ve been worth it, but now it is.
