Best Weapons for Beating Automatons in Helldivers 2

Fight fire(power) with fire(power).

The war to defend Super Earth has evolved, and pretty quickly. Instead of fighting mindless bugs, we’re now tasked with fighting literal Terminators who can shoot back. Here are the best tools to beat Automatons in Helldivers 2.

Best Primary Weapon for Beating Automatons in Helldivers 2

The Diligence Marksman Rifle is, hands down, bar-none, the best primary weapon for any Automaton mission in Helldivers 2 – at least the best one you can get in any reasonable amount of time. If you’re being shot at by enemies, you may not be surprised that being right in front of them is not a good idea.

The Diligence Marksman Rifle lets you not only stay far away (and behind cover) from enemies, but it also allows you to target Automaton weak points. If you shoot most Automatons in the head, they’ll go down, no matter their size. Of course, this doesn’t apply to targets with armored heads, bringing us to our next weapon suggestion..

What if you could kill enemies before they even got their feet on the ground? That’s right, you can down Automaton dropships using the Recoilless Rifle or EAT-17. The Recoilless Rifle is better in a group of coordinated allies since it has a long reload (or assisted reload if someone has a free backpack spot), while the EAT-17 is a grab-and-go option for solo players or the less communication-inclined.

These rocket launchers aren’t just good for dealing with dropships, they’ll also make short work of Hulks, Tanks, and those big laser turret towers that fortify enemy bases.

Best Sentry for Beating Automatons in Helldivers 2

Since we’re staying away from enemies (and the enemies are, for the most part, staying away from us), the insanely powerful Mortar Sentry is a must-have for Automaton missions. These sentries typically come with the downside of friendly fire when enemies and players start tangoing together, but if you’re holding a location or attacking a locally occupied base, it works wonders.

Bringing more than one mortar isn’t a bad idea, either – just be sure you know where they are, where the enemies are, and to keep your distance from any melee units who may rush your team down. And remember: dive, dive, dive.
