How to Complete Keep of Honed Edges Ascendant Challenge in Destiny 2

Nothing says fun like dying in the abyss

It’s a new week and you know what that means! An obscure Dreaming City Ascendant Challenge has arrived. This time, it’s the Keep of Honed Edges Ascendant Challenge, so buckle up. Here’s how to complete Keep of Honed Edges Ascendant Challenge in Destiny 2.

How to Complete Keep of Honed Edges Ascendant Challenge in Destiny 2

First things first. We need to actually get to the challenge. Which might be the most difficult thing we’ll have to do. Head to the Divalian Mists quick travel point in the Dreaming City, then jump on your Sparrow. Keep left, taking the cliff-side trail to Rheasilvia.

From here, we’re going to want to get to the Rheasilvia Temple. Unfortunately, there are zero helpful map markers to help us out. From the Divalian Mists, move forward and keep your eyes on the horizon. You’re going to want to find the Blight-corrupted white temple in the distance. Once you see it, head towards it and head inside. You’ll be knocked around a bit by a variety of Taken Enemies (including a Taken Ogre).

Now, here’s the important part. We want to get to Harbinger’s Seclude. And the way to do that is to head straight from the temple’s entrance. Do not, in any way, turn left or right. This place is annoying to navigate, and even harder once you lose your bearings.

Once you hit Harbinger’s Seclude, a name that will pop up on the left side of the screen. Now, follow the path through here until it opens up into a courtyard. There will be Taken and Scorn fighting, and it’s your choice whether you add to the bloodshed.

Go straight to the courtyard and you’ll enter this large alcove and you’ll get a notification on the side of your screen:

The seam between realities weaken…

If you get this notification, you’re in the right place at the right time. Go into your inventory and use the Tincture of Queensfoil. The first platform will appear when you get close to it on the right side of the walkway. Jump up on it, and you’ll see the second a little higher. If you get confused, just follow each platform to its edge and the next one will appear… until you get to the window-wall near the ball of Blight essence. For this one, you’ll have to jump a little past the window and the next platform will appear.

Once you can reach it, jump into the void ball and you’ll be transported into Keep of Honed Edges.

From here, you’ll need to navigate around the void using the floating rock platforms. There are multiple paths to do this, from left to middle to right. After trying all of them, I think the middle is the fastest.. but it also seems to have the smallest platforms. Use the flash of lightnings when possible to light up your next platform before the next jump because if you die you have to start over.

And, yes, this is extremely annoying. And it’s made even more annoying because the Tincture of Queensfoil has a countdown. Fortunately, you can always pop another one if you run out of time… but who wants to do a platform puzzle twice?

Make your way to the lit arena over these platforms. If the platform you’re on starts making a noise, it means it’s about to vanish underneath your feet, so I wouldn’t try to cheese it.

Once in the arena, you’ll see a bunch of Hive and three Knights at the center. You’ll need to clear all the Hive in order to start the second phase. A sword at the center of the arena will become unlocked, and you’ll need this sword to defeat all the Hive Knight bosses. But the moment you pick up the sword, the arena will start filling with Taken. Take out the Taken Phalanx first, as they’ll happily knock you over the edge if you’re unsuspecting.

Then, take out the Knights using the dropped sword. This is the only way to damage them. If you need to, feel free to drop the sword and use your normal weapons to kill adds or even escape. Once all three knights are dead, you’ll get a notification that a new portal has opened and that Toland, our spectral white friend, is beckoning for us.

Now, it’s time for the worst part of the challenge: the second platforming section.

This one is much, much harder because there are both Taken Phalanx and Vandals on the rock platforms you need to jump to. The Phalanx is terrible because they’ll knock you off, and if you’re not careful, the Vandals will just kill you. I highly recommend that you opt to kill all enemies on the platforms before you attempt to traverse the void, as the platforms will also begin a countdown to vanish once you land on them… and there are also massive rocks that will spawn out of the ether to insta-kill you.

Once you’re past the void, you’ll land in a large section with a massive Blight Ball (Ascendant Portal is its scientific name, but Blight Ball sounds better). There, at the center of this final platform, will be a chest, which will give you a Dreaming City weapon.

Congrats!
