While you can’t find many extraction shooters with quite the same amount of depth or customization as Escape From Tarkov, its quests still fall victim to the same old trope of tracking down items and returning them to the quest giver. For something a little different, here’s how to complete Fishing Gear in Escape From Tarkov.
How to Complete the Fishing Gear Quest in Escape From Tarkov
Instead of hunting down items in a raid to hand over to a trader, Fishing Gear asks you to track down a key location in Shoreline and stash some gear. It’s almost the same premise, just in reverse. You still lose out on a handful of equipment, including a sniper rifle, which really does hurt.
The entirety of Fishing Gear in Escape From Tarkov takes place on Shoreline on behalf of Peacekeeper. You’ll hunt down a boat hidden by the breakwater. If you’re unsure what a breakwater is, walk up and down the beach until you spot a row of concrete blocks reaching from the sand into the water. Behind the first one, you’ll find a small rowboat with a single paddle resting on the seat. This is your target.
Once you find the boat, walk up and interact with it. It’ll begin a short countdown of 30 seconds, and then the two items you must leave behind, including a sniper rifle and Leatherman Multitool, will automatically leave your inventory and be stashed inside the boat.
Quest complete! You don’t even need to extract!
Quest Rewards for Fishing Gear
For finishing Fishing Gear in Escape From Tarkov, you’ll receive the following rewards:
- 4,800 EXP
- Peacekeeper Rep +0.02
- 700 US Dollars
- 1x Untar Helmet
In addition to these rewards, you’ll also unlock the ability to purchase the SIG Sauer ROMEO4 Reflex Sight and Springfield Armory M1A 7.62×51 Rifle from Peacekeeper LL2. Overall, not a bad haul for a quick dropoff!
Before long, you’ll find yourself tackling the Samples side quest for Peacekeeper, which is a bit more challenging and time-consuming.
