How to Complete Dead Stop in Starfield

Get ready for a four-part quest in your favorite rehabilitation center

The space has no shortage of criminals, pirates, and ne’er-do-wells. But that doesn’t mean they should get the protagonist treatment and be sentenced to a quick death at some nameless outpost. Sometimes, rehabilitation is the answer. And that’s the case for the Eleos Retreat. But this rehabilitation center might be shuttered before it can have its grand opening if you can’t find a missing construction worker. Here’s how to complete Dead Stop in Starfield.

How to Beat the Dead Stop Mission in Starfield

If you land on the planet Ixyll II, you’ll quickly find yourself at the doorstep of the galaxy’s premier (and possibly only) prisoner rehabilitation center. The Eleos Retreat is a community of criminals who are seeking rehabilitation and a new way of life.

But things are looking grim. A construction worker helping build the retreat has gone missing, and of course, people are blaming the criminals. But is it really their fault? Let’s unravel this mystery.

Find and Speak to Greg D’Angelo

After speaking to Sloan, the soft-spoken retreat leader, you’re instructed to speak to Greg D’Angelo. Greg was injured while attempting to find the construction worker, and as the security chief, he’s our best bet for finding our first clue.

Greg D’Angelo is in the Retreat, in the main room just to the back and right of the giant crystal.

Greg will tell you he got gored by a beast outside of the facility. But he did find some tracks which might belong to Kilman, our missing construction worker.

So, let’s see where those tracks lead.

Find the Missing Construction Worker Kilman

So, world maps tend to be randomized unless they have some significant plot importance. But the Mineral Caverns will likely be very close to the Eleos Retreat. The entrance will also be very distinctive because of all the crystals at its entrance.

If you’re having a hard time finding the entrance, but you got the notification that you found “Mineral Caverns,” you can use fast travel to be brought right to the cave mouth. This makes navigating the mountain much easier.

Inside the Mineral Caverns

For the sake of transparency, I had already found and explored the Mineral Caverns before starting this quest. So, all the aliens were dead for me. But you’ll very likely find Pack Glowhands within the cave. They’re aggressive, so don’t feel bad about shooting them in the face.

Likewise, there are pools of water in the cave. This water is radioactive, so try to avoid contact with it.

When you get to the first fork in the cave, turn left. You’ll find a small tunnel. Go through, and Kilman will be standing at the bottom of the crystal slope.

Kilman will be terrified of you and beg you not to “put him back in the bag.” Ask him what happened, and it will turn out he was kidnapped. But he’ll be more than happy to come back to the Retreat with you. Leave the cave the way you came in. Then, you can fast travel or walk back to The Eleos Retreat.

Find Out What Happened to Kilman

At the entrance of the Retreat, Kilman will have a conversation with Jonah Halftown and the rest. The schism between the construction workers and criminals will grow deeper. We need to find out who kidnapped Kilman.

Speak to Sloan

Everyone will walk off… except Sloan. Speak to her, and she’ll ask you to find out who the kidnapper is.

She’ll give you the coordinates of a facility that she believes Kilman was being kept at. And thus begins a four-part quest chain!

And we’ve got you covered on the next step, Ghost Hunt!
