How to Change Your Profile Bio Color in Honkai: Star Rail

It might not be the place for that

Some dialogue in Honkai: Star Rail will occasionally have some different colors to highlight its most important parts. Eventually, they discovered that your username and bio description could, indeed, have different colors as long as you used the correct prompt for that, so here’s how to change your bio color in Honkai: Star Rail.

How to Edit Your Bio Color in Honkai: Star Rail

Before changing the color of your bio, be aware that this isn’t an intended feature as it has been previously patched out by Hoyoverse. Changing your name and bio color was originally a bug that appeared back in May 2023 and was quickly patched out, but it has somehow returned with the most recent updates. While you can do it for now, chances are that it will be removed once again.

Anyways, to change your bio to any color you want, all you have to do is drop the specific color code on your bio. For a green bio text, for example, you can use the example below:

<cŏlor=green> Your bio here </cŏlor>

You can use any other color you want instead of green. Red, blue, black, anything goes. You can even use a specific HTML color code to get certain shades of your favorite color to decorate your profile. You can find those codes by Googling “html color codes” and clicking on the first non-suspicious link you see.

Names could also have their colors changed, but this is now impossible due to the smaller character limit. You’ll have to do with only the bios instead.

Commands like <s> Username here </s> previously also worked to strike through your text like that, but these have been also removed for now. Changing the bio color is the final layer of customization you can do, for now. Can’t have good things I suppose.

Can I Get Banned for Changing My Profile Bio Color?

Back when people first discovered this feature/exploit, the main reason for its removal was that it was previously possible to change the color of your profile names. If you did that, whenever an NPC mentioned your colored name in dialogue, the game would crash since the name was now a code instead of simple text.

And since this was immediately patched out as soon as word about it got out, it’s easy to assume that this is clearly an exploit that could result in a temporary ban from playing the game. This method could also be used to bypass the system and include censored words in your bio, something that’s definitely not allowed.

But despite that, no reports of punishments have ever surfaced in the community. The closest we had were people reportedly receiving emails when trying to use the exploit after its removal like in this Reddit thread. It’s still not a good thing to be personally warned that you’re trying to inflict a ToS, though.

Particularly, I don’t think Hoyoverse would personally hunt every person who just wanted to have a cooler profile for a while. But while it feels cool to have a custom in-game profile, it might be safer to remove your edited texts if you fear for your account. If players eventually get punished, it might not even go as far as restricting their access to the game for a while, but it might be better to avoid any complications whatsoever.
