How to Catch Bugs in Moonlight Peaks
Funny how you can also catch souls with the net.
In Moonlight Peaks, you’ll notice you have most of the tools already at your disposal at the start of the game. However, you start to see all these critters around, and you have no idea how to catch them or if it is even possible.
You don’t craft your tools in the game, so how will you even get a tool to catch them? Someone will just hand you the tool over, and here’s a short guide showing you how to unlock the net and catch bugs in Moonlight Peaks.
How to Catch Critters in Moonlight Peaks

To catch bugs, you’ll need the Net tool. However, the Net only unlocks when you get the cutscene from Death in Moonlight Peaks. Death will just randomly hand you the Net and talk about catching Soul Blobs. The Net allows you to catch these Soul Blobs but also catch other critters roaming around the areas.
Encountering Death happens when you enter Moonlight Peaks after progressing to a specific point. The cutscene just shows up after going to Moonlight Peaks. However, it isn’t clear what triggers it. For me, I finished “A Bridge Too Far” and “Orlock’s Wine Scheme” quests right before I got this cutscene, so you’ll have to progress a little to get this encounter. You’ll surely get this encounter during the first season.
Once you get the Net, you can equip it from the radial wheel and start catching bugs. Here are some things to take note of when using the Net:
- Each swing of the Net directly consumes your stamina. So if you swing and fail to capture the bug or a Soul Blob, you’ll lose energy, so be careful with those swings.
- Bugs and Soul Blobs run away if you run to them, so try to control your movement to walk slowly toward them. While you can still catch them while running, it is still safer for conserving your energy if you walk to them instead. You can also corner them if you can bait them into a corner.
- I would suggest stockpiling the bugs early instead of selling them unless you really really really need the money. There’s a magical crop that requires feeding some critters or fish for it to grow. These are usually the crops that give you Mana Essences from the Mana Extractor, which will make more sense later on in the game when you reach this part.
