How to Become a Pirate Legend in Sea of Thieves (2023)

A title for only the most devoted pirates.

Sea of Thieves is a game all about goals. Whether that be scoring the next level in a trading company, raiding a skull fort for endless riches, or simply taking down so many pirates in a day, self-imposed goals are how the game lives and breathes. There’s one goal on every pirate’s mind though, one that’s the general end-game for almost everyone. Here’s how to become a Pirate Legend in Sea of Thieves.

What Do I Need to Do to Be Pirate Legend in Sea of Thieves?

Pirate Legend is a rank dedicated to only the most persistent of pirates, being for those who manage to reach rank 50 in at least three trading companies. This takes a ton of grinding out levels, though you’ll need to choose which three you’ll focus if you’re trying to get there as quickly as possible. Here are all trading companies neatly listed, along with what you need to level them up:

  • Treasure Hoarders – Treasure Chests and Valuable Artifacts
  • Order of Souls – Take on bounty quests from the vendor
  • Merchant Alliance – Deliver goods between different outposts
  • Reaper’s Bones – Take down rival crews and deliver their goods to the group’s outpost
  • The Hunter’s Call – Deliver fish and meat to vendors at sea posts (tiny outposts)

As far as the best choices go, the Treasure Hoarders and Order of Souls are arguably the most fun to rank up over time. We’d suggest absolutely doing these two while choosing between the Merchant Alliance or Reaper’s Bones depending on how much you enjoy PvP. The Hunter’s Call is a group we’d ignore unless for some reason you really adore fishing in Sea of Thieves.

Once you have all three to level 50, you’ll gain access to a secret hideout, some new Pirate Legend-themed cosmetics, and a whole new trading company to dump another few hundred hours into. Good luck getting it leveled!
