How to Beat Gravel Belly in God of War Ragnarok
As stated earlier, Gravel Belly is a huge, powerful drake, and packs just as big a punch as his dominating size. For this encounter, you’ll need to stay close to him to whittle down his large health bar, while also being careful to dodge his devastating attacks. Follow the tips below to defeat this rocky dude:
Dodge Red Attacks
- While some attacks from Gravel Belly can be blocked, many of them are better off just dodging instead. Any attack preceded by a red circle around the boss cannot be blocked and must be dodged to prevent taking massive damage. His bite attack is one example which cannot be blocked. His stomps can be blocked, though it’s recommended to try dodging them instead.
Parry Yellow Attacks
- Gravel Belly will sometimes do a tail swing which, if not blocked or parried, will send Kratos soaring away with a sizeable chunk of health missing. Even worse, the boss will launch spikes towards you as you try to close the distance back towards him. To be safe, make sure to block attacks preceded by a yellow circle indicator.
Use your Rage abilities
- This is a tough fight, and will require you to use everything available in your tool kit. Use your Rage abilities when the opportunity arises, either for a quick heal or an opening for big damage.
You may come out with a few bruises, but after some time, you’ll successfully defeat the Gravel Belly boss.
