In Frostpunk 2, several problems can pop up in a single playthrough. Most of them are recurring problems but nothing too bad where you can’t recover from it, literally. Diseases are one of the hardest problems to fix because the causes are quite extreme. Here’s how to avoid those diseases in the first place and how to cure them when you can’t prevent them in Frostpunk 2.
How to Avoid and Cure Diseases in Frostpunk 2
To avoid diseases, you must first know what causes these diseases. The main cause of disease is usually because of the cold. When temperatures drastically drop, and you cannot compensate for it, people will get sick, and disease will rapidly grow or spread. Usually, the trick is to put the generator into overdrive when the weather suddenly drops. While sometimes the temperature only drops temporarily, it is best you constantly improve on the heating.
Getting more heat requires researching ideas from the Idea Tree to benefit heat consumption or production. However, you can also naturally get more heat by placing districts next to each other. They will benefit from heating, but if you place your Housing Districts next to Extraction and Industrial Districts, it will increase your chance of getting diseases even if you improve your heating. These districts are meant to be segregated, so plan your layout accordingly.
How to Cure Diseases in Frostpunk 2
If you can’t avoid diseases, you still have the option to cure the sickness plaguing your city. When diseases become rampant in your city, there are decision prompts that show up in the generator or your districts. Select them, and you’ll be given a choice of what to do. Some decisions may help reduce the spread of diseases, but it comes at a cost. It is up to you what to pick, depending on your situation.
When things come to these situations, your situation is quite dire already. You want to get hospitals up soon and start curing the sick. Again, things are only “fixable” when you don’t have other problems. Remember, Frostpunk 2 is unforgiving. You want to look at every single aspect and strike a perfect balance within your city.
