How to Age Up Toddlers in The Sims 4

They grow up so fast

Why waste time in the squish, uncoordinated toddler phase when you can have a grown up STAT? Here’s how to age up your toddlers in the Sims 4.

How to Speed Up Toddler Aging in The Sims 4

It’s normal for kids to want to reach adulthood faster, even if there’s nothing anyone can do to make it happen. Luckily, those rules do not apply when playing The Sims 4. Though it is worth your while to reach certain milestones with Sims in their toddler phase, if you want to age them up, there are two ways to go about it.

  • Give your toddler cake.
  • Wait
  • Cheat.

How to Use Cake to Age Up Your Toddler in The Sims 4

No, seriously, baking a cake really is how you age up a toddler. Have one of your adult Sims bake a cake (the flavor doesn’t matter). After that, you’ll need to put some candles on the cake. You can do this by selecting it and choosing the option “add candles”. Make sure the toddler you wish to age up blows them out. Doing so will prompt an in-game message informing you the toddler is now a child. Happy birthday, kid! Now, go get a job. The higher paying the better.

Alternatively, you can simply wait. All toddlers and sims will age naturally, even if they don’t have a birthday to celebrate the passing of their digital lives.

How to Age Up Your Toddler Using Cheats in The Sims 4

It’s a bit more difficult than baking a cake, but you can also use the Age Up cheat to quickly advance your toddler into a child.

To do this on PC, follow these steps:

  1. Open the command console by pressing “Ctrl + Shift + C”
  2. There should be a white line at the top of the screen. Type “testingcheats true” on top of it
  3. The game will now say “Cheats are enabled”.
  4. In the pop-up window, type “cas.fulleditmode on”.
  5. Now press the “Escape” button (Esc).
  6. Hold shift and then click on the character you wish to age up.
  7. After you do that, you should see eight options in a circle around your character. Select “modify in CAS”.
  8. From there, choose the age group you’d like.
  9. Finally, hit the checkmark and start playing again.

To do this on Xbox and the PlayStation, you’ll first need to access the cheat console. Here’s how to do that:

  • Load into the game and hold down all four triggers at the same time.
  • A thin textbox will appear at the top of the screen. Enter “testingcheats true” in the textbox to enable cheats.
  • The game will now say “Cheats are enabled”.
  • In the pop-up window, type “cas.fulleditmode on”.
  • Now press the “Escape” button (Esc).
  • Hold shift and then click on the character you wish to age up.
  • After you do that, you should see eight options in a circle around your character. Select “modify in CAS”.
  • From there, choose the age group you’d like.
  • Finally, hit the checkmark and start playing again.

It isn’t completely necessary, but it should be noted a toddler having high Imagination, Movement, Communication, Potty, and Thinking skills will likely do better in the latter stages of their life. So, before aging them up, you may want to level up those areas. Let them have their cake and eat it too.

But an even better option might be to use our Cheat Sheet for your new teen’s high school years.
