How to Increase Stamina/Grip

Increasing your Stamina (or Grip as it is sometimes called) in Shadow of the Colossus is not an easy task. There are two different ways that you can upgrade this particular stat, and we’ll cover both of them below.

First, the easiest way to increase your Stamina is to simply defeat the Colossi that act as your main targets in the game. Each time that you face off and defeat one of these massive bosses your Stamina gauge will slowly increase, giving you a bit more grip to work with.

The second way to increase your Stamina is to find and collect Lizards, which will reward you with White Lizard Tails. To find these you’ll need to look around the world until you spot a Lizard and then shoot it with your bow. Once you shoot the Lizard and kill it, you will then need to walk up to hit and press R2 on your controller to eat the tail and gain a boost in Stamina.

The bad thing about Lizards, though, is that they are very tough to spot in the game world, so you will need to look out for them quite a bit as you explore the area and look out for them. They can usually be seen easily in the sunlight, though finding them in the shadows will be a bit tougher.

We highly suggest finding Lizards as much as possible and do everything that you can to find them and eat them. This will make the later parts of the game much easier, as you’ll have a lot more Stamina to work with in each fight that you take on. This is important because some of the later game bosses will require more Stamina to stay atop of them.

Now that you know how to increase your Stamina, make sure you head back over to our Shadow of the Colossus guide for more information on the game, including a guide on how to take down the first Colossus, as well as a guide on how to find the Last Guardian Easter egg.
