How to Get a Fishing Pole in Far Cry 5

If you want to pick up new weapons and customize your character, then you’re going to need cash. There are plenty of ways to earn an income in Far Cry 5, but one of the best is definitely fishing. Before you can get started fishing, you’re going to need to get your hands on a fishing pole in Far Cry 5. The good news is we’ll show you how to get a fishing pole in Far Cry 5 early in the game.

How to Get a Fishing Pole

Before you can get your fishing pole, you are going to need complete the first island where you start and unlock the ability to fast travel. Once you’ve unlocked the first three story mission, and Dutch has told you where to head to, make your way directly west of Dutch’s bunker and across the water. You should find the Vasquez Residence here.

Scout the area for enemies, and then take them out to clear the area. Once its clear, you’ll have unlocked a new fast travel point. Head inside the front of the house—through the door with the flag waving above it. There are quite a few things to look for in this little house, but the main goal here is to grab yourself a fishing pole, which will allow you to start earning money fast so that you can afford all your favorite weapons and other items.

To find the fishing pole, head into the house and towards the back, straight from the front door. Here you’ll find a small hallway to the right. Turn down it and take note of the tool rack on the right side of the hallway’s wall. This is where you’ll find a fishing pole. Step up to it and interact with it to pick it up.

How to Equip the Fishing Pole

The fishing pole will automatically be added to your weapon wheel. Unlike your main weapons, though, you’ll need to open up the weapon wheel and press R1 or Right Bumper (depending on your console) to find the wheel with the fishing pole on it. From here simply swipe up on the controller and you’ll pull the fishing pole out.
