It’s Friday, and it’s a good time for classic tips – plus, with Castlevania being included with the forthcoming NES Mini console arriving later this year, it’s just as good a game as any to cover.

For these Castlevania tips, we’re covering the final battle with Count Dracula. He can be a bit tough, but if you’ve got the right weapons, he’s as good as staked.

First off, make sure you have the Boomerang before you start the battle, and try to pick up the “II” and “III” multipliers so you have multiple projectiles to throw – they’ll do you good as you go on.

Dracula will begin teleporting around the screen. Don’t worry so much about using your special weapons. Just time your jumps over his fireball attacks, and as you’re in the air, deliver a quick whip hit to his head. You’ll need to repeat this a few times before you move into the second phase.

He’ll then transform into a large bat-like creature, which will hop around the screen and shoot down fireballs on you. You’ll want to keep an eye on his movements. When he jumps, get underneath him so you can get on his other side and attack him. Watch out when he comes down, though. Be prepared to jump over the fireballs he breathes as well, because they can do major damage to you.

It’s in this form that the boomerang will come in most handy, as you can fling two or three at a time with the double or triple shot power, and really rack up the damage. Once you deliver enough hits, he’ll be done for, and you’ll be treated to the game’s ending.

However, it’s not over yet. Castlevania will start over from the beginning again, but this time at a higher difficulty. Good luck!
