How to Change Characters

Ni No Kuni 2 Battle

Changing characters is a different command depending on what you’re doing in the game. If you’re in combat you can switch your character by pressing up or down on the d-pad. If you’re on the overworld map and want a different character to lead your party, you can open the menu (Touchpad on PS4), select Party, then swap out your party members until the one you want to control is at the top of the list. This is also the character you will control when a battle first starts.

There are some occasions when your party will be split, or certain characters need to take on a quest. In these circumstances you won’t be able to change characters. However, these occasions are rare, so if you really like playing as a specific character, you can change to that character more often than not. Keep in mind, you can only have three characters in your party at once, no matter how many characters have joined your group.
