Hogwarts Legacy PC Performance Increase Tips: Config Files and More

Before we begin, make sure you check out the “Best PC Performance Settings for Hogwarts Legacy” post that is linked above. Using the correct settings may be enough to fix your performance issues. However, if the problems still persist, you will need to take a few extra steps.

One technique to increase FPS in Hogwarts Legacy is to enable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.

Here is how to enable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling:

  • Enter “Graphics Settings” in your Windows Search bar
  • Switch Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to “On”
  • Restart your PC
You will want this switched on.

After enabling this, you could play Hogwarts Legacy for a bit to see if it solved your problems. If not, you may find some relief by messing around with the config files.

How to Optimize Config Files for Hogwarts Legacy

This gets a little more advanced, however it should still be easily doable for most. If you follow the instructions carefully, you should be able to optimize your config files in seconds.

Here is how to optimize your config files for Hogwarts Legacy:

  • Open the folder: AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
  • Make a copy of Engine.ini in case you make a mistake. Place the copy on your desktop
  • Add the following code at the bottom of your config file:

[SystemSettings]

r.bForceCPUAccessToGPUSkinVerts=True

r.GTSyncType=1

r.OneFrameThreadLag=1

r.FinishCurrentFrame=0

r.TextureStreaming=1

r.Streaming.PoolSize=3072

r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1

[ConsoleVariables]

AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdates=1

AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesDuringGamethreadUpdates=1

AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesEditor=1

After adding this code to your config file, you can save and exit the file. All this is doing is overriding certain graphics settings to a more optimized state. Keep in mind this may effect the graphical quality of the game.

There should be a noticeable lack of FPS drops and stuttering after both of these changes are applied. If not, your PC may need an upgrade!

Now that you have increased your Hogwarts Legacy performance on PC, it is time to get out there and kill some spiders in 60 FPS!
