Heirlooms are the rarest form of cosmetic items in the battle royale title of Apex Legends. Five characters currently have an heirloom, including Wraith, Bloodhound, Pathfinder, Lifeline, and Octane.
Octane will be getting his item during the System Override Collection Event, which will also be completing changing how heirlooms can be earned through heirloom shards. Luckily, we have everything you need to know about these heirloom shards and how to get them covered for you.
Heirloom Shards Apex Legends
Now, instead of the entire set of heirlooms dropping for a character at once, players will receive shards. These shards can then be used by players to obtain the exact item they would like. These new currency items have the same drop rate as the heirlooms before, so after 500 packs, you will have enough of the new currency to get a full set from the heirloom’s shop.
The current progress that players have towards the 500 packs will carry over to the new system when the switch happens during the System Override Collection Event, so you will not have to worry about having all of those opened packs before being a waste.
Once a player has all of the heirlooms in the game, they will not be eligible to obtain another shard until more heirlooms are added to the battle royale game. With so many more players dropping in with the arrival of season 5, it’s more important than ever before to know exactly what this feature is and how to get them.
