Like with any cozy game, it’s essential to know the basics. And in Graveyard Keeper 2, learning that takes more steps than you might expect. At least it’s obvious where you can get a steady supply of Sticks and Logs from, but the remaining resources vital to building aren’t so obvious.

Here are all essential materials for you to find and farm in Graveyard Keeper 2.

All Graveyard Keeper 2 Resources and Where to Find Them

Bronze

Alongside Wood, Bronze will likely be your most used resource in Graveyard Keeper 2. It is primarily found by clearing debris and destroying barrels when you first enter a new area (i.e., tidying the Inquisition Base exterior, Church, Writing Basement, Factory, or Vineyard Basement). This gives you Bronze Scrap, which can then be cut into Nails or Bronze Ingots.

Clay

There are multiple spots within and outside the Inquisition Base to dig Clay. The easiest to get to is south-east of the Inquisition Base. It is visible by the dried surface and hole in the ground, encircled by grass, bushes, and trees. You need a Shovel to pick it up.

Copper

An infinite supply of Copper is readily available from the start of the game, just west of the Garden. You will find it directly next to the introductory pond where you learn how to fish for the first time (if learning is even possible in this godforsaken minigame).

Fire

While you don’t necessarily run into fire. You make it using Firewood. This is one of the easiest resources to create on repeat. You just need a steady supply of wood to keep your fire burning. Firewood is crafted at the Chopping Spot, either with a Stick or Small Log. You can accumulate Sticks by chopping down small trees or destroying barrels and bushes, while a Small Log is cut into this using a whole Log from a single tree.

You need a Firewood Shed set up near the appliance you’re trying to ignite (e.g., Oven, Furnace, or Distillation Cube). Keep Firewood in Chests nearby too, so you can keep replenishing the Shed without wasting time running around for more.

Honey

Honey is obtained by harvesting Bee Hives. These are scattered around the Inquisition Base and go on a cooldown, replenishing their supply over time.

Ink

Ink is one of those in-game items you don’t really want to know how it’s made. First, you need to buy the Crematorium I. This lets you burn bodies. We recommend doing this if you have too many Red Skulls you cannot get rid of, or there are no White Skulls that can improve your Graveyard Level. By cremating a body, you get Ash and Salt in return (lovely, I know). To top it off, the final ingredient to make Ink is Melted Fat.

To create Melted Fat, you’ll need to burn these ingredients at the Distillation Cube:

  • x1 Fat (taken from a body at the Autopsy Table)
  • x2 Clay Plate (made at the Potter Wheel)
  • x20 Fire (Firewood)

Here, you need to visit the Writing Desk (underneath your home). The recipe is x1 Ash, x1 Water, x1 Melted Fat. You cannot make the Desk until the secret hatch unveils itself by completing main story questlines, where Larry will show you a hidden base beneath you, prime for the taking.

Iron

Iron is one of the materials you will see a lot of, in and around around the Inquisition Base (outskirts), Forest, and Swamp. It is found in the wild, rather than being by any structures. It shines differently from Stone and is multi-colored, appearing more brown than gray. This is Ore you should burn directly into Ingots as soon as you get your hands on it.

Marble

Marble only becomes available when you enter the Forest. It cannot be obtained in the wild anywhere else. The Forest is to the west of the Village, but you cannot simply stroll in. There are two ways to get into the Forest: one is by travelling south in the underground sector of your house, the other is to obtain a Certificate. Neither is achievable early on in Graveyard Keeper 2. Rather, you should get to the Town by completing your first Battle, increasing the Town Rank to 20, and speaking to Jully when prompted by the men guarding the Forest.

Alternatively, you can take the path by going underneath your house and travelling far south, past multiple blockages in the Factory, until eventually reaching the Forest via the Mines. Both methods take you to the Forest where you will find infinite Marble directly to the right of the Mine entrance.

Sand

Sand is south-west of the Inquisition Base and beneath the western fishing spot. It is directly next to a stream and looks exactly as you’d expect: a pile of sand. You can also convert Tin into Sand with the Sluice Box.

Stone

You can find an abundance of Stone pretty much everywhere you go. Any uncharted territory you step into for the first time will give you a prime opportunity to destroy blockages. These are mostly made up of Stone. There’s also more than enough Stone to pickaxe in and around the Inquisition Base. But there’s only one spot which has an infinite supply, and that’s directly south of Graveyard Keeper’s home. The spot is on the edge of a cliff where you will see the Forest and Mine entrance beneath.

Water

Water is easily obtained via the unlimited source at the Inquisition Base Well. This is just west of the home and directly underneath the Garden. You can upgrade the Well so you get more Water per spin.

Finally, you must increase your Mastery Levels to mine larger ore pockets. The three you need the most to farm these resources are Building, Metallurgy, and Farming. Aim for Level 6 across the board by upgrading your equipment. You can do this by replacing your Rusty Shovel, Hammer, Axe, and Pickaxe with either Bronze or Iron. Do not neglect the Inspirations Tree, as completing actions or using Faith to buy Inspiration Slots slowly fills the bar, eventually giving you a point to spend on either a Perk or a Mastery Level (if available).
