Standard Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Standard gear is just regular clothing (as you read this article right now, you are probably wearing some standard gear of your own). This gear rarity can be identified by its gray text and dark background. In Hogwarts Legacy, Standard Gear has no magical properties and will not buff your offensive or defensive stats. Standard gear can be sold for 30 Galleons, but in my experience some shops will not even buy Standard gear, as the non-magical items can be traded for zero Galleons in many cases. Either destroy or sell these items, as they will just take up inventory space.

Well-Appointed Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Here is where the actual usable, magical gear begins. Well-Appointed gear is the most common and cheapest of all magical clothing in Hogwarts Legacy. This gear rarity can be identified by its green text and background. Well-Appointed gear provides a buff to offense or defense based on the clothing item type. Well-Appointed gear can be sold for 60 Galleons. These items cannot be upgraded and do not have traits.

Superb Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Superb gear is the middle of the pack when it comes to rarity and value for magical items in Hogwarts Legacy. This gear rarity can be identified by its blue text and background. Superb gear provides offensive or defensive stats based on the clothing item type and can be sold for 90 Galleons. This rarity level can have upgrades and traits applied.

Extraordinary Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Extraordinary gear is second best among Hogwarts Legacy’s magical wardrobe. This gear rarity can be identified by its purple text and background. Extraordinary gear provides offensive or defensive increases corresponding with the clothing item type and can be traded to merchants for 150 Galleons. Furthermore, this tier of gear can be upgraded and have traits applied.

Legendary Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Legendary gear is the rarest, strongest, most valuable gear in Hogwarts Legacy. This rarity tier can be identified by its goldish orange text and background. Legendary gear provides offensive or defensive stats based on the clothing item type and can be sold for a whopping 200 Galleons. It can even be further improved upon with the help of upgrades and traits.

Some Gear Tips in Hogwarts Legacy

One important tip for gear management in Hogwarts Legacy gear is to examine the offensive and defensive stats of your items. Just because an item is rarer than another does not necessarily make it better. Most importantly, make sure to manage your inventory well, as you only have a finite amount of gear space in Hogwarts Legacy, which can fill up very quickly when exploring the game’s many locations, which are teeming with new gear seemingly around every corner, hidden in every nook and cranny.
