Will Forza Horizon 5 Have Crossplay and Cross-Progression on PS5? – Answered

It was only a matter of time.

Playground Games’ sensational open-world racing title, Forza Horizon 5, is finally making its way to the PlayStation 5. As part of Xbox’s new multiplatform strategy, PlayStation users can now experience one of their best first-party titles on PS5 and PS5 Pro. However, considering this title will now be available on all major platforms, it’s fair to ask if crossplay and cross-progression are on the table for the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5. Here is everything we know so far.

Does Forza Horizon 5 Have Crossplay Support on PS5?

Yes, Playground Games confirmed on X/Twitter that Forza Horizon 5 on the PS5 will have crossplay support with PC and Xbox consoles.

While the tweet was a reply to crossplay confirmation between PC and PS5, we expect crossplay between Xbox consoles as well—just like Sea of Thieves.

Does Forza Horizon 5 Have Cross-Progression Support on PS5?

Unlike crossplay, however, Forza Horizon 5 does not have cross-progression/save support on the PS5. This was also confirmed by the Forza Horizon X/Twitter account while replying to another user.

This is the same case for the Steam version, which is separate from the Xbox version of the title. PS5 users can’t use their progress from other systems.

The PS5 release will have the same content as the Xbox and Steam versions with over 900 vehicles and players will be able to purchase previously released Car Packs, and the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions. Additionally, Playground Games is working on a free update for all platforms called Horizon Realms which includes a curated collection of the community’s favorite previously released Evolving Worlds.

Outside of the announcement and these minor details, Playground Games hasn’t confirmed if the title will receive PS5 Pro support.

Forza Horizon 5 PS5 Release Date

The release date for the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 hasn’t been announced yet. However, interested players can wishlist the title on the PlayStation Store.

We expect to see even more existing titles from Xbox’s first-party catalog make their way to PS5 in 2025. id Software’s DOOM: The Dark Ages is coming day one to PS5 despite being a first-party Xbox title. Last year, Sea of Thieves was a massive hit on PS5 and it’s clear that Xbox’s new strategy of taking a more active role in multiplatform publishing will allow their studios to have a larger audience without being tied to a single system.
