There’s not much less frustrating than wanting to play a few rounds of your favorite live service game, only to be stuck in a long queue. Here’s what you need to know about Fortnite queues and why you’re in one.
Why is There a Fortnite Queue?
Most of the time, the reason you’re in a Fortnite queue is because the game has a lot of players trying to log in currently. This almost always happens on update days, such as the launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 on March 8, 2024.
At the time of writing, I’m stuck in an hour-long queue myself on PlayStation 5. So I feel your pain – it sucks.
Can I Fix the Long Fortnite Queue?
Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do to fix it aside from wait it out. Imagine being in a fast food drive-thru line where everyone gets served one at a time at dinner hour, where the line is really long, and everyone’s hungry and frustrated; that’s what it’s like waiting in a Fortnite queue. They’ll get to you eventually, but the people ahead of you in line need to be dealt with first.
I wouldn’t recommend quitting and restarting Fortnite because you’ll lose your place in line. You’ve just got to be patient; it is what it is. In my experience, queues are always shorter than what they say they are, especially as players in front of you get impatient and leave the line, so it’s worth sticking where you’re at.
If the Fortnite servers are down, you may also see long queue times. Find out how to check Fortnite’s server status in our guide so you can see if the issue is simply a lot of traffic or if there really is an issue happening on Epic Games’ side.
