A pair of bunny ears can make your life harder when using hats, but it’s not as complicated anymore regarding hairstyles. FFXIV has been adding more hair options for Vieras since Endwalker hit and has continued to do it until its final patch, 6.5 “Growing Light.” Let’s look at all the new ways a bunny can proudly not use a hat.
All New Viera Hairstyles in FFXIV Patch 6.5
There’s a total of six new hairstyles available for Vieras in the 6.5 update. As usual, three of these are automatically unlocked from character creation and are found at the bottom of the hairstyle selector, while three others are unlocked through external means. These three are the Gyr Abanian Plait, Form and Function and Lexen-tails.
While male and female Vieras got the same amount of new options, one of the free ones is different between male and female characters. Lexen-tails is also different depending on the character’s gender.
All of them are available for female and male characters, even if some might feel more female-oriented. Males were brought into existence due to popular demand, after all.
Where to Unlock the New Viera Hairstyles in 6.5
The aforementioned hairstyles can all be unlocked by doing various different activities in the game. Here’s each one of them listed for you.
|Hairstyle||Where to Get||NPC|
|Modern Aesthetics – Gyr Abanian Plait||Randomly obtained from Silver-haloed Sacks in Heaven-on-High.||N/A|
|Modern Aesthetics – Form and Function||Randomly obtained from Silver and Gold Happy Bunny boxes in Eureka Pyros.||N/A|
|Modern Aesthetics – Lexen-tails||Buy for 50.000 MGP in the Gold Saucer.||Gold Saucer Attendant (X: 5.1, Y: 6.6) – Prize Exchange III|
The Lexen-tails hairstyle isn’t available to buy until you complete the City of Lost Angels quest from the Level 70 Alliance Raid series (Return to Ivalice).
Alternatively, you can buy all of these hairstyles (with the exception of Lexen-tails) from the Market Board. Prices will differ according to your server, so do some world-hopping if you don’t feel like spending a huge fortune on those.
Hooray for Viera’s hair diversity! Although slower, the same hair-obtaining process is happening to Hrothgars, too, so expect to see more stylish feral lions wandering the streets of Limsa. Helmets are still a far-fetched dream, though.
