FFXIV: How to Get the Apocryphal Bahamut Mount

Sprite based mounts just hit different

The Endwalker expansion in Final Fantasy XIV has been a huge homage to the fourth-numbered title in the series. From the moon trip, the Lopporits, gear pieces, and bosses, almost everything we’ve been getting has some inspiration from Cecil’s adventure. And the trend continues for one of the final expansion mounts: The Apocryphal Bahamut, based on the original Bahamut sprite from Final Fantasy IV. Here’s how to get it.

Where to Get the Apocryphal Bahamut Mount

The Apocryphal Bahamut mount is the final reward for getting all of the Lynx mounts from Endwalker’s Extreme Trials. As a tradition from previous expansions, you can get an extra, unique mount from collecting all of these rare mounts from fights across the expansion. To get this unique Bahamut, you’ll need to have the following:

  • Lynx of Eternal Darkness (The Minstrel’s Ballad: Zodiark’s Fall)
  • Lynx of Divine Light (The Minstrel’s Ballad: Hydaelyn’s Call)
  • Bluefeather Lynx (The Minstrel’s Ballad: Endsinger’s Aria)
  • Lynx of Imperious Wind (Storm’s Crown Extreme)
  • Lynx of Righteous Fire (Mount Ordeals Extreme)
  • Lynx of Fallen Shadow (The Voidcast Dais Extreme)
  • Lynx Of Abyssal Grief (The Abyssal Fracture Extreme)

All of these have a low chance of dropping in the aforementioned duties. Alternatively, you can gather 99 of its respective Totem items and exchange them for the mount in Nesvaaz at Radz-at-Han (X:10.6, Y:10). This option becomes available a few months after the fight is first released.

With all overgrown cats in hands, now head to Old Sharlayan and look for Singingway at (X:11.5 Y:10.3) next to the Market Board to get the Wings of Hope quest. After a few dialogues, you’ll finally get to see your new majestic mount coming from the skies to your possession. You get the Apocryphal Bahamut Horn item, so use it to get your new ridable as soon as possible.

This is a time-consuming challenge that requires completing some high-end content, so get ready to grind these for a long time. Older Extremes are easier nowadays thanks to our higher Item Level, so you might want to start from those. It’s not as majestic as the Lunatender mount, but it scratches a different itch. And I love it for that.
