Cross-Play has become a popular feature in the world of video games, as developers have begun to allow players on different platforms to play together in their favorite games. Fortnite Battle Royale, Rocket League, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a group of high-profile titles which have either already implemented cross-play or will be doing so in the future. However, the battle royale title of Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) will be one of the next significant games to allow cross-play between its various platform communities.
PUBG Cross-Play
It has been revealed that cross-platform capabilities will be officially coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) communities for PUBG. This new feature means Xbox One and PS4 players will be able to play together and against each other in their quests for collecting chicken dinners. Unfortunately for PC players, the upcoming cross-play feature for PUBG will only be available for the Xbox One and PS4 communities.
The cross-platform feature between Xbox One and PS4 players will first be available for the communities to experience on the Public Test Server (PTS) for PUBG in late September. This highly anticipated feature will then be available on the game’s live console servers in early October.
Exact details for how the cross-play feature will work for PUBG players on the Xbox One and PS4 platforms were not revealed in the feature’s official announcement. We will update this article with more information regarding the new feature for the battle royale title’s console versions when it is made available. It is likely this new feature will put players from both consoles into a shared matchmaking pool at all times in addition to allowing players on both consoles to invite each other to matches.
