There are a lot of changes and new stuff introduced with this update, which we will discuss in detail in our Everything New Coming To Cyberpunk 2077 in Phantom Liberty DLC guide.

We already know that Phantom Liberty is the first and last major expansion coming to the game, which will take the players on a journey packed with new characters and locations, but there is also a massive overhaul happening to the game with this update.

This will completely change the state of the game and add new features. Below, we will discuss all of the upcoming changes in detail.

Weapons

There are already hundreds of weapons available in the game of different types and kinds, but you will now have more weapons to play with in this new update. These new weapons include:

  • Order – Shotgun
  • Grit – Handgun
  • Warden – SMG
  • Osprey – Sniper Rifle
  • Hercules – Special
  • Rasetsu – Sniper Rifle

Along with these rifles, players can get a new Katana with a sleek red thermal look.

Redesigned Cyberware

One of the most important aspects of the game is the Cyberware, which gives players a unique ability or features to use in combat. With this update, the Cyberware feature of the game is completely reworked, with what looks like a leveling system that will give you complete control over your build.

New and Improved Perks

Update 2.0 will completely overhaul the skill trees with new abilities and moves and remove the previous system, where you would receive a perk point after progressing through its levels. Some of the new moves and abilities spotted in the trailer video are:

  • Bladerunner – Performs a finishing move with the blade.
  • Bullet Deflect – As the name suggests, it deflects enemies’ bullets.
  • Opportunist – Slashes off enemies’ heads with a lethal takedown.
  • Air Dash – Performs a quick dash in the direction in which you jump while mid-air.
  • Savage Sling – A finisher where V picks up a weakened enemy and allows you to throw them in any direction.
  • Pull – Throws a grenade in the air and shoots it to cause a massive explosion.
  • Deadeye – Locks on to enemies with a revolver and kills them with a headshot one by one.

These are some of the new moves and abilities that could be seen in the most recent trailer.

There is also a Relic Skill Tree coming to the game, which was already available in the base game but not yet implemented. However, it will be available for the players with Update 2.0, bringing more perks to the combat mechanics. Some of them are:

  • Launch Capacity Override – Shoots explosive projectiles at the enemies.
  • Spatial Mapping – It allows you to jump and blink in the direction that you are facing.
  • Limiter Removal – V performs a powerful punch in slow motion that sends the enemies flying in the air.

More of the Relic Skills Tree will be unveiled with the release of Update 2.0.

New Vehicles and Vehicular Combat

New and improved vehicles are also coming to add more style to the driving aspect of the game. These vehicles will be included in the expansion, and you can get them by completing gigs or buying them from Fixers.

Not only more cars introduced to the game, but you can now equip them with weapons and gadgets to take part in car chases, which was promised in the launch trailer for the game but was never delivered. However, now you can customize your vehicle with mounted weapons such as machine guns, rocket launchers, and much more.

Not only that, but you can also slide out from the window of the car and shoot with a handgun. For the players rocking a Netrunner build, you can now hack enemies’ cars to make them explode or disable them.

Improved Police AI

Police AI was one of the features of the game that was disliked by most of the community. The players wanted more of the police system like GTA’s, but the game ultimately failed to deliver it. With the policemen walking around foolishly on the streets, it was fairly easy to do illegal activities and get away from them by driving some distance without them ever chasing you.

But now, this system has been reworked, as it can be seen from the trailer that there will be a police chase when you try to run away from them. The police will now gun you down while driving, and roadblocks will be on a higher wanted level. It will make the police system more engaging and fun.

With all these new features and updates coming to the game, it will likely turn out what it was supposed to be from the start, and more players will be willing to give it a try now.
