There are a lot of different types of Pokemon to be caught in Pokemon GO, some of which can be quite difficult to track down. However, the Pokemon GO weather boost system will greatly increase your chances of catching different types of Pokemon depending on the weather in your area. In this guide, we are going to take a look at all of the different Pokemon types affected by weather boosts.
Pokemon GO Weather Boosts Explained
The Pokemon GO weather boost system is based around seven different types of conditions. As we mentioned above, these conditions are based on your current locations, meaning that if it’s raining outside, you’ll have a better chance of catching a water type than you would if it was bright and sunny. Further, players will also be given extra Stardust when they catch a Pokemon that has an increased chance of appearing during certain types of weather.
You can see which Pokemon are affected by the current weather in your area by clicking the weather icon on the bottom right corner of your screen. If you open it up, it’ll tell you the current weather in your area as well as the different types of Pokemon that have an increased chance of being caught. We’ve also detailed every type of Pokemon that is affected by weather boosts in the table below.
In addition to having a better chance of catching specific Pokemon based on the weather, the types mentioned above will also perform better in fights based on the weather. For example, if you were to play a fire-based move on a sunny day, it will do more damage than it would on a snowy day. This is a super-easy way to deal more damage and all you have to do is think it through before you make a move. Further, if you head to your Pokemon’s summary in the game, you’ll be able to see which have enhanced moves based on your local weather.

It’s also worth noting that there are no exclusive Pokemon based on the weather, meaning you won’t be able to catch a specific type of Pokemon exclusively in the rain, for example. While this would actually be a pretty cool feature, it’d be unfair to only make a Pokemon catchable when it’s snowing for those who don’t live in areas with a lot of cold weather.
