Amidst all of the cities and villages that players can explore, the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered contains many secret and transformative powers. Among these is the ability to turn into a werewolf. In this article, we’ll tell you how to become a werewolf and make use of the lycanthrope’s transformative powers in Skyrim: Special Edition.
How to Become a Werewolf in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Unlike becoming a vampire, there is currently one way that players can become a werewolf. To do this, you will need to join and complete the Companions questline in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. This questline can be started at any time by heading to Whiterun, the first big city that you travel to.
Outside of the city, you should hear the telltale sounds of fighting. Head towards the location, which is actually a farm, to find a group of warriors taking on a giant that has wandered too far into the homestead. You can either help them kill the giant, or just watch from the sidelines. Either way, you’ll be able to introduce yourself to the characters after the giant is dead. They’ll mention the Companions, as well as tell you a little bit about how to join their group. Not sure if you’re a good enough fighter to join the Companions? Once you’ve spoken with them, head towards Whiterun and into the city to find the Companion’s headquarters, Jorrvaskr, the longhouse just to the right of where you head up the steps into Dragonsreach. Speak with the leader of the Companions inside, and you’ll receive the start of a new questline.
Now all you must do to become a Companion, and eventually a werewolf, is complete the various quests given out to you by the group of warriors. Specifically, The Silver Hand. At this point, you will be admitted into the Circle, an inner group of allies within the Companions that all share one terrifying secret. If you want to become a werewolf, you must choose to drink the blood of Aela the Huntress when it is offered to you. This will give you the beast form, which can be used once per day to turn into a werewolf for roughly two and a half minutes. You’ll also want to be sure you know how to find and activate all the standing stones in Skyrim, otherwise your skills won’t be tailored to your abilities.
Werewolves are dangerous enemies, and becoming one allows you to fight fire with fire. If you follow the guide that we outlined above, you shouldn’t have any issues completing the Companions’ quests and becoming one of the most powerful creatures in Tamriel.
