EA Sports WRC Release Date, All Platforms, and More

EA Sports WRC Release Date, All Platforms, and More

The long awaited new beginning for the WRC games!

The World Rally Championship has inspired driving simulations for over 20 years. These simulations are based on the most demanding automobile racing discipline, and new games are released almost yearly. Over the years, the development studios responsible for the WRC gaming franchise have changed following shifts in licensing. In 2015, French studio Kylotonn Games took over the production of WRC games, culminating in the release of WRC Generations last year. However, the franchise is set to take a new direction with the release of a completely new EA Sport WRC game at the end of 2023, marking a new beginning for the longest-running rally franchise. In this guide, we’ll go over the release date and platforms for EA Sports WRC.

EA Sports WRC Release Date, All Platforms, and More

EA WRC was officially announced only in September 2023, with a release date of November 3, 2023. Unreal Engine will power the new rally game and will only be available on next-gen consoles: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and PC. Along with the release date announcement, the first official trailer was presented, as well as the website where it was confirmed that EA WRC will be a completely new game made from the ground up, or as they said, from the DIRT up!

It has been known for years that EA is set to become the new owner of the WRC license. However, it’s only a matter of time before we see what their first official WRC game will look like. Codemasters, a racing-focused studio EA acquired a few years ago, will develop the first-ever EA WRC game. The talented team at Codemasters is no strangers to rally games, having created popular series like Colin McRae Rally and DIRT. Despite this, they have never had the opportunity to work under the official WRC license, making the upcoming game highly anticipated among fans of rally games.

EA Sports WRC will feature 18 real WRC rallies with ten “Groups Rally” cars straight from the current WRC season. WRC2 and Junior WRC will also be represented as they were in the previous games. The complete car list is still unknown because EA is gradually publishing it on its official website.

EA Sports WRC will also offer a unique feature that allows players to build their own rally car from scratch. This interesting option will be available in the game, and it’s expected that the car players create can be used in the career mode. Although not much is known about the career mode, this feature provides an exciting opportunity for players to create their own ideal rally machine!

With a completely new engine, focus on the current hardware, and experienced developers from Codemasters at the helm – is the best WRC game in a long time just around the curve? November 3, 2023, can’t come fast enough!
