Mission 5 from the DYN Campaign is one of the hardest missions in Tempest Rising. Starting out correctly requires extreme care and precision, since you cannot lose your units until you get your base.
You need to dig deep and pull out some tricks to survive. But I’ve already done the hard part, so here’s a complete walkthrough of the DYN campaign’s mission 5 in Tempest Rising.
How to Finish the Rat Catcher Mission in Tempest Rising – 100% Completion

Prepare to Intercept the Approaching Convoy | 200
Destroy the Enemy Supply Convoy | 400
Destroy the GDF Satellite Uplinks | 200 |
Note: Secondary objectives will be in bold throughout the walkthrough.
Locate the GDF Construction Yard

You’ll start the mission with a powerful Commando unit. The Commando erases everything – infantry, tanks, buildings, you name it. However, it is still susceptible to damage, and the only way to heal the Commando is through using the Infirmary.
Use the Commando to efficiently destroy the enemies by focusing on them one at a time or aiming directly for an explosive barrel. Once you reach the bridge, you should get some backup.
At the next intersection (after getting the backup), place an Infirmary, start luring the tanks one by one, and try to keep everyone alive. Once you destroy the wall blocking the bridge, a wave of enemies should head toward you again. Keep using the Infirmary to heal your units.
You can even clear the right side using the Commando. There’s a Trebuchet here, which is strong against infantry units. Use the Commando and try to avoid taking a direct hit from the Trebuchet while approaching it.
Go through the bridge and deal with more turrets and enemies.

You’ll reach another intersection near the GDF base. Reinforcements should arrive, and there’ll be more enemies again. However, you’ll have a unit to heal your tanks, so you can use those tanks as your frontline units when engaging enemies. Clear the bridge and go to the GDF Base.
Take Over the GDF Base
You’ll find walls and turrets around the GDF base. Use the missile from the left panel to deal with half of the enemy vehicles, and make sure the Trebuchet is one of them. After the bombardment, finish the remaining enemies and take over the GDF base.
Do not go for the secondary objectives without taking the GDF base first.
Destroy the GDF Satellite Uplinks

Once you have your base, you don’t have much to start with. Try to turtle up and build a small army (30-40 population cap size). Use the army to clear the area around the Tempest resource node to the north and build a Tempest Rig to harvest the resources.
Expand your army with a few more units and head to the first secondary objective on the northwest side. I don’t know if it is a bug, but the cloaked units aren’t… cloaked. It could be that they are being revealed when attacked, but I lost my Machinist (who detects these cloaked enemies) in one playthrough, and I could still see them.
Anyway, deal with the cloaked enemies. There are only a few of them, but you are mainly after the Tempest resource node here. Get another Tempest Rig to harvest these resources, which should be enough to sustain a maximum army size throughout the mission.

Keep your main army above 80-90 in size and let it smash through every single GDF Satellite Uplink base. Save the northeast base for last and make sure to get the second batch of cloaked enemies in that area first.

After destroying the last GDF Satellite Uplink, a convoy will approach from the east, which will loop around your base to the north and to the west. If your main army is already on the northeast side, intercepting the convoy will be easier.
Prepare to intercept the approaching convoy and destroy the enemy supply convoy
The game gives you two minutes to prepare your army, which should be easy if your army is already there. Gather all your units to attack the convoy, and the mission should finish after destroying the convoy.
Once you get your base, the mission should be a piece of cake. If you missed our previous walkthrough, check out the Dynasty campaign mission 4 walkthrough here.
