Dragon Ball FighterZ is finally here, but many people are finding that there’s no direct way to play with friends online. Fear not, we’re here for you to help everyone play with friends in Dragon Ball FighterZ lobbies. While there isn’t an immediate way to just play with friends in the Dragon Ball FighterZ beta, there is a way you play with anyone you want in the full retail release thanks to the Ring Match lobby system. Read on to find out how you can play with friends in Dragon Ball FighterZ.
How to Play With Friends
Offline it’s easy to just hop over to the Local Battle area and play a 1-on-1 match or start a tournament. Online it’s a bit different. If you want to play with friends online, you need join the same lobby in the same region, then either create or join a Ring Match. To create a Ring Match, move to an area of the lobby where you wish to start the Ring Match (it will be visible to anyone nearby) and press R2 (on PS4) or RT (on Xbox One) to bring up the Ring Settings menu. From here you can select three categories to give people an idea of what kind of matches and players you’re looking for. For example, if you’re just having fun, pick the “Let’s just have some fun” line for category one.
Once you’ve decided on your category settings, select your Battle Rules. If you choose a standard Ring Match it will be a 1-on-1 battle. Select Ring Party Match if you want to play 3-on-3, with each person controlling a different character. This setting also allows you to choose which players are on each team. If you don’t care which players are on each team and just want completely random teams, select the Ring Party Match (Shuffle) option.
If you’re creating a private match with just your friends or specific people you want to join, set a Ring Password. This can be any number between 0000 and 9999. Give the password to your friends so they can join your Ring Match once it has been created.
Finally, you can select the total number of players allowed in the Ring Match. This can be anywhere from two players, up to eight players. Just like any other online fighting game lobby, people can spectate if they’re not in an active match, which is why you can have more than six players in the room.
To join a Ring Match, it’s best to have your friend start the match in one of the open areas, like Kame House in the upper left corner of the lobby, or the small town area in the lower right corner of the lobby where there aren’t any other activities. Head to where ever your friend has setup the Ring Match and move into his circle. At this point you can choose to join the Ring Match and enter the pass code if one was created.
That’s all there is to it! With the server congestion at launch, you may experience an issue where no rooms are found while entering an Arena Match. This is a server issue. Keep trying and you’ll eventually get in. If you’re playing with friends, change the person who is hosting the Arena Match and you may have better luck.
