Does Starfield Feature Microtransactions?

Starfield’s ESRB rating reveals that in-game purchases are a part of its business model. However, while this may indicate the existence of microtransactions, it also shows plans for future DLCs and Creation Club Content.

Considering previous Bethesda games like Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Fallout 4 feature both, we can safely assume that Starfield will have the same. Starfield’s Premium and Constellation editions also include the Shattered Space story expansion, so more will likely follow in the future.

There is currently little information confirming whether Starfield has any microtransactions in the form of lootboxes or purchasable currencies. If it utilizes the Creation Club, we’ll likely see CC Credits similar to Fallout 4. Otherwise, the odds of Starfield having microtransactions are low.

Historically, the main Bethesda games that have featured MTX are two multiplayer games, Fallout 76 and Elder Scrolls Online. Generally speaking, most of their single-player games avoid this and opt for expansions and the Creation Club instead, and Starfield will likely be no exception.

Starfield will be available on September 6, 2023, on PC and Xbox Series X|S. If you’re looking for an extra spicy adventure, be sure to check out whether Starfield has romance and if Starfield supports mods, or click the game tag below to browse our growing content collection!
