Disney Infinity 3.0 – Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tips and Strategies

Now that you've seen the movie, live the adventure!

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is one of the biggest blockbusters of all time, making $1.5 billion worldwide and showing no signs of slowing down. What you may not know, however, is that there’s an equally cool Force Awakens playset available for Disney Infinity 3.0 that lets you play as Rey, Finn and other characters on the planet Jakku and other locales from the film.

We’ll avoid spoilers the best we can with this play set. Instead, we have these Force Awakens tips.

Complete Missions to Move Ahead

As you make your way through each world in The Force Awakens, you won’t be able to get anywhere fast until you collect a certain amount of money. When starting, this means raising enough virtual cash to pay off Unkar Plutt so he’ll allow you to use the Millennium Falcon to escape.

It’s easy to get money. Along with bashing items in the environment to collect small pieces of currency (namely trash bins and such), you can also complete missions within Jakku. The goal here is to keep an eye open for characters that have icons over their heads. They can be seen from far away, with color shaders (mainly blue) that indicate where they’re at. They can also be seen on the map.

From there, all you need to do is walk up and hit the proper button to speak with them. They’ll explain the basics of the mission in question, and you can choose to either accept or turn it down. Accepting would be your best bet, since most of these starting missions are rather easy. One guy will simply ask you to get in his vehicle and rev the engine to a proper degree so he can test its capability, while another will ask for help when defending against raiders, allowing you to open up your combat capabilities against these adversaries.

Upon completion, you’ll be rewarded with currency that you can turn around towards paying off Unkar (or whoever’s stopping you from making progress) and move on to the next world. Don’t be in too much of a rush, though. You can complete all the missions and level up your character as you go along, opening up new combat abilities and strengths that will help you later on in the game.

Building a Foundation and Finding Secrets

Along with being able to complete missions throughout each world, there are also opportunities to do secondary objectives. One cool mission you can perform on Jakku involves building a landing bay with the help of some efficient robots. By building this, you’ll be able to cruise around the level in a low-end spaceship, finding even more secrets you couldn’t locate on foot, as well as reaching outer areas that would take quite a while walking to. Keep an eye out for these objectives and don’t be afraid to explore. You never know what cool rewards will be waiting.

For that matter, be sure to be on the lookout for some cool collectibles and bonuses. The Hero tokens let other characters join The Force Awakens, including classic favorites like Han Solo (with grey hair) and Princess Leia, as well as characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Star Wars Rebels gang. You do need the coordinating figures in order to play these characters, though. Keep that in mind.

Finally, watch for the mini-game boards. You’ll be introduced to these over the course of one of the missions, a space shooter style game where you can lay waste to enemies while increasing your multiplier and gunning for a high score. These are great to waste time with, and you can earn a few rewards from them as well, depending who asks you to play.

Who’s the Best Character?

Finally, you may ask who’s the best character to play with in the game. While each one in The Force Awakens set – Rey, Finn, Poe (sold separately) and Kylo Ren (sold separately) are effective in both short-range and long-range combat, you may have a preference depending on the character. For instance, Kylo Ren is an ideal choice if you’re into Force attacks and letting loose with a lightsaber.

However, for the most part, your best bet is Rey. Finn is good with a blaster, but Rey is better balanced when it comes to both long-range strikes and short-range attacks with her staff, as she can line up combos together with ease. For that matter, you can also level her up quite efficiently, furthering her combo capability, giving her a cool air attack, and for that matter, making her stronger later in the game. That’s ideal, especially for the final boss battle against Kylo Ren.

Good luck, and may the Force be with you!
